Does anyone here play?

My knees are knackered but I really miss five a side and this could be a solution.

Looking for something near Benfleet.

It's brilliant, but it's still quite vigorous and hard on the knees. Most clubs will let you have a go for a week or two to see how you get on.

I am looking for something a bit less formal than joining a team.
I've played at a couple of 'clubs' but they basically hire the pitch and provide the gear then it's an informal kickabout amongst mates once or twice a week with lads coming and going as they are able. Those that want to be more competitive can play in inter club matches at other times but most don't. There are guys in there 80's playing. I'm miles away so can't help with the Benfleet area but would encourage you to find a local 'club' and go and have a look before getting put off because I think 80% of the blokes want the same things out of it as you. There is of course the odd geriatric John Terry but easily avoided.

I really enjoy it.

I gave up five-a-sides when I was 50 and had an occasional kickabout with mates in the park though missed the competitive aspect of the game but I was too knackered to play at any level. I didn't think I would ever get the buzz of it again but with walking football over the last six years, it's been a great joy.

I even got approached after a recent tournament as to whether I was eligible for the Cornwall over 70s team though I had to decline as I'm only sixty-four and five months.
