Walker the new Eastwood

Gower sees him in training so probably has a better idea of his ability than we do from having seen him play one-and-a-bit games - but it's still far too early for anyone to judge him yet IMO. He's made a promising start, that's for sure.

hasn't got a hattrick yet has he!?

spinner said hoops was a better talent than freddy... could still come true to be honest. it seems both walker and barnard have hit the ground running and could be the boost the whole team needs

Exaggeration or otherwise, the man has clearly got enough about him to make Gower comment like that. Great to hear anyway. With Walker, Barnard and Revell coming in, we've certainly improved our chances of going up.

Now, if we can just sort out that leaky defence...

Doubt he will be as good as Eastwood but doesnt need to be either.

The echo was raving about him after the Yeovil game so looks like he has made a good start.

walker made a good run down the left side beating a few players in first half but could not finish with his left foot he was causing them lots of problems maybe at cheltenham he will get on the score sheet

I think Walker will give us his all because of the way we have stuck by him and showed faith in him after his heart problems. At the final whistle last week he gave Brushy a massive hug as he was walking off.

I think this is a very good point. Ron and the club were very loyal to Walker, paying medical bills, supporting him through it etc. Anyone who receives that level of support is going to want to give something back. Backing him through his medical problems rather than drop him at the first sign of trouble was the best thing the club could have done for everyone.

Spinner said Hoops is technically better than Freddy, I think he is right

If this is true it is could get very confusing when the real or 'classic' Freddy Eastwood is loaned to us by Wolves.

Similiar situation with Tilson and Revell as well.

This might be a bit cringing but, his name is Walker, he's on loan...and I thought you'll never Walker loan!! I'll get me coat:hilarious: :hilarious:

I think its too early to tell yet. When I saw him on his debut against Bournemouth he was pretty good, pacey and certainly had an eye for goal. Although he only got one he should of had a second goal which he just missed. I hope he is one of the answers to are striking problems.

Him and Barnard seem to link up well and I am really looking forward to seeing them again against Cheltenham. :D

I think Gowers comments were more to do with aspects of Walkers game being better than Eastwoods ,and it's certainly not difficult to work harder than Freddy .But as a finisher and a scorer of goals out of nothing and a superb strike rate per games like Freddy ,then he's got to go some ,here's hoping .

The comment's have been picked up by pretty much everyone far and wide in the media though - even the Beeb managed to quote it.

Strikers are about being capable to put the ball in the net. Freddie was/is two footed and his scoring record speaks for itself.

Technically, many players can be gifted, but if as a striker your not capable of creating and taking half chances, then any amount of technical ability counts for very little.

I suppose there are many qualities that make up a special player, those who send a tingle down your spine, and at our level very few ever come into that category.

Our youth squad may contain some ? their recent achievements and the statements of opposing managers have been interesting to say the least.

The youth policy is creditable to the existing management. That's long termism, which I am certain does not go un-noticed to us all.

If Gower says walker is "as good as Freddy with abetter work rate", simple Mahs says he is BETTER than freddy. NO PRESSURE!

It's good to see some confidence and mutual admiration though, and let us not forget, we have only lost 1 in 6 games.
