Just a little heads up for those coming to/going home by car on Friday..

Snippet from Evening Echo:

The essential work will mean lane closures, convoys and temporary traffic lights in operation between 8pm and 6am.
Today, tomorrow and Wednesday, Prince Avenue from Kent Elms Corner to the Tesco roundabout will be affected. There will be lane closures and a convoy system working on this section of the road.
The second resurfacing operation is in Victoria Avenue between the Blue Boar and Earls Hall Avenue and takes place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between the same times. There will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights along this section of the road while the work is taking place.
In both cases, drivers and being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to seek alternative routes wherever possible.

Coming down from North Wales for my first match of the season on Friday and I have to applaud minds of the finest road planners in the UK for not checking the fixture list before shutting down the road outside Roots Hall.

Surely the local constabulary must have something to say about this???

Indeed.

Madness.

After the game, I would suggest using London Road (A13) or cutting down Westborough Road, up Gainsborough Drive, onto Prittlewell Chase, down Hobleythick Lane and onto the A127 that way.

Park at Southend High for boys (£5). Then come out, turn right along Prittlewell Chase and continue past Belfairs Golf Course and join the A127 there (opposite Progress Road).

Yep, that is another way to shave a couple of miles off the A127.

Edited for road name.

Wasnt the game originally on the Saturday tho when fixtures first came out? Leeds was one of those moved I thought. Would not have had an issue if it was on the Saturday.

Surprised the club havent advised their supporters of this.

Have the echo got it correct tho? Its not the A1270 which is in a completely different county is it? ;)
