The Business
Sorry to be pain on this topic again but I am off tomorrow with the Mrs for a long weekend and got a few questions. I have tried looking them up but cant be sure as you get so much contrasting info on the Net.

So for those that have been can I ask?

1) Our hotel is in St Marks square. What is they best way to get there for Marco Polo airport e.g Water Taxi, Bus etc etc.

2) I have been tasked with buying a plug adaptor for Mrs DtS's hair straigtners. We have one that works in French plugs in the office. Are they the same? if not what sort of plugs are we looking at?

Cheers Lads,

DtS

Pretty sure Italian plugs/voltage is the same as for France. Or alternatively get one at Boots in the airport (less than a tenner)

They are. Funnily enough, continental Europe use the European 2-pin plugs. As Glasgow said, get the ones from Boots - they also do them in packs of 3 (One for Europe, Asia/Africa and America) so you'll save money on plugs with your little venture down to Egypt if you can use one of those down there.

water bus or taxi is the best way Dave, the taxi's are more expensive but quicker. The water bus is fine though, thats how i travelled there anyway...:)

We went about 6 years ago, and got a water bus (can't think of the correct italian term) to our hotel. It was in the middle of Friday night rush hour, and was a scream! Highly recommended.

Plugs are the same as France (round 2-pin). I've just confirmed that with the Italian guy who sits next to me.:)

At 70 Euros for half an hour and baring in mind its 12 miles to the hotel from the airport I am not sure this is the most ecconomical way to do it mate.

Yeah BUT.............. How romantic would that be mate!!!!... sex on demand for a month for the amount of points you will score on that one!!!

Mate - to get to the hotel you can get the bus or water taxi. The bus stop is virtually the other side of the town, and would take about 30 minutes (or probably nearer an hour with a bird in tow) to walk across to St marks Square (and bear in mind the streets are narrow in places and St Marks Square is a tourist trap).

If you can afford it id go with the water taxi - its a little pricey, but its a pretty cool way to get into town. When you get to the airport there will be a little booth where you can book it up (you jump in a minibus and drive the 100m to the "dock"). They all speak good english.

Another way maybe to get in touch with the hotel and check what they recommend, they may even be able to get you a deal.

Sadly the painters are in excuse the term so that is not likely....

That was terrible planning for a weekend away mate!
Schoolboy error there!
Should have got her to take the next set staight away!

I know, I know, I know.

Believe me I have made that comment.....

Not to worry though the next one is due when were in Egypt.......

A great place to visit for the weekend - went a few years ago and had a good time. Make sure you have some good footwear as we seemed to walk for miles! Not sure if your flip flops will be the best Dave!

We went in Feb and got the water bus and it was fine, only took about 15 minutes more then a water taxi. As Benji said you get off a minutes walk from St Mark's Square. The Gondola aren't too expensive; we got one early on a Sunday morning and it was about 60 Euros for an hour, didn't even have to knock him down.
