Velvet Revolver

Anyone heard of Velvet Revolver? Basically Guns 'n Roses with Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots (one of my fav bands) taking the lead vocals.

Heard a few songs so far - the single 'Slither', which is superb and a cover of 'Money' - which is equally ace.

Really excited about this band as its a combination of two of my all time fav bands - cannot go wrong!

Just downloaded a recent concert. They played album tracks plus the following:-

Sex Type Thing (STP)
Mr Brownstone (GnR)
Crackerman (STP)
Used to Love Her (GnR)
Negative Creep (Nirvana)

So lots of good oldies in there! Slash and Duff were on XFM last night and said that both the ex-GNR members and Scott Weiland enjoyed playing each others songs and think they work really well. Must say, Weiland has his own distinctive voice (like Axl) and probably doesnt sound 'right' singing the GNR songs!

Good to see some appreciation though Littleman

I was going to put a post up a few weeks back about VR, but thought no one would like them etc. Its good to see another fan !!

Where did you down load the concert from ?

It was on a newsgroup, should still be available if you can get access to newsgoups. It was posted in alt.binaries.mp3s.bootlegs

Velvet Revolver, Contraband = ****...

Very dissapointing, sounds like one of Scott Weilands side projects from STP. I've come to the conclusion that Weiland IS STP, as his side projects were pretty rough and the remaining members of STP's project was dismal.

He just has that distinctive voice that so suits STP and nothing else.

Ah well, case of single misleading album - Slither is still a great song.
