USA Olympics medal recount

MK Shrimper

Striker
Not sure how much credibility there is to this story, but as the USA are having a very average olympics by their standards, one American TV channel is recording the number of medals won as per competitor instead of per event.

For example, the 4x100m relay would mean +4 medals instead of just 1.

:D

That's brilliant!

Nothing to do with their womens' football team being in the final as well, I suppose? They really are a joke, aren't they?

:D :D :D

I disagree with Michael Phelpss being labelled as the greatest Olympian of all time because he participates in an Olympic sport that enables him to enter so many categories.

With out doubt he is an absolutely superb athlete/swimmer but if after 4 consecutive Olympics he is still picking up Gold’s then yes he would be....but IMO until then he isn’t.

Completely agree Dave. 4 years time he'll be over the hill and I bet he won't win any.

Well if he is still wining them at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics then hats of to him....but i can not see it myself.

For me there is only one true Olympic legend

Rowing is contested by far too few countries for Redgrave to be considered number one. A legend no doubt, but I think you have to look at athletics. Paavo Nurmi for me, maybe Fanny Blankers-Koen from the female perspective.

In another four years Phelps will have picked up so many verrucas that he will be barely able to walk.

Blankers-Koen is a good call. But for me it has to be Emil Zatopek who won gold at 5000m, 10000m and the marathon at the Helsinki games of 1952. That feat IMO will never be equalled again.
