Up and coming posh game

I am coming down with a few posh fans to watch the opening game of the season.

A few weeks ago, I was confident we would get a few new faces in(particulrly Mulgrew!!!!!) but with only around 2 weeks until the big day I am starting to think that we are going to get taught a lesson, especially as Mclean is now staying and our dire performace/s in the friendlies.

I would be happy to consolidate for a few seasons running up until FF but i can't see us getting anywhere near our finish last season.

Anyone else share my thoughts?

Quite simple reply to all this rubbish being spouted this past few weeks, Ron only got back from 2 weeks Holiday last Friday, if you would care to look at the Prem managers a lot are all saying they need 5 players in. We still have 3 weeks ...

:chill:

the only thoughts I have are these, tilly and ron martin have done te job in the past and I am sure they will do the job in the future, chillax it will be ok

worse case scenario - we start -

Mildenhall

francis clarke sanfono barratt

scannell baily macca moussa

walker barnard -

given that quality - 2 x 10 goal midfield men - and with new signings and loanees to come whats the problem ???

I think that some people got very carried away after we committed the heinous crime of not playing very well in a meaningless friendly and losing it 2-0. Then they looked at the squad and the fact that some players opted for higher standard football and threw some toys out of their prams....

All a bit pathetic really.

Wouldn't a worse case scenario exclude Bailey and Clarke since they are on the transfer list and could leave any day?

I wouldn't be surprised if we get turned over by the Posh - but its got nothing to do with our pre season. Promoted teams often perform well in League 1 possibly due to winning mentality, high morale, less squad turnover and especially early in the season are somewhat unknown.

I'd go with
Mildenhall
Francis, Clarke, Sankofa, Barrett
Scannell Bailey Macca Walker
Furlong Barnard

You can turn the McClean situation around and wonder what he's thinking now that he knows he won't be moving to a big club on big money just yet.

Although, like any player, he could be transferred out this afternoon for all we know.

The result might well have been meaningless but Tilly would have learned a lot from the match about his players, and in particular their ability to play anything other than 442.

It must also have reinforced his belief that we desperately need a specialist Left Back, or else someone of Mulgrew's quality who can play there.

The worst case scenario would probably involve a plane crash wiping out our entire squad as we return from our friendly against Wycombe.

It would be great to be the surprise package this season though, much like our league 1 winnning season, i'll take another one of those!

I wouldn't be too disheartened if we got turned over by Peterbrough, as I think that they may will be one of the team challenging this season and, as pointed out, promoted teams always seem to do well in the lower leagues.

We had a poor start last season, and came close to winning promotion, so I am certainly not going to worry if we get off to a losing start

Think we will do ok against posh,if there are no defencive blunders. I still worry about Clarke and Barrett at the heart of our defence, lets hope they deal with Mclean. Still niggles me a bit that he only played up the road for Billericay, but i suppose Peterbrough offered him a better deal.
