Unused season tickets

dusterman

Nello
Hi all,

I bought a season ticket for the first time this year for me and my boy despite not being able to go at all times due to work and distance away. I did it to show faith and thanks to COSU for everything they’ve done for our brilliant club.

Is particularly bad in December as can’t make Hartlepool or Boxing Day, but will be at York away ole, ole.

Couple of things:

- Could the club consider a way of providing ability to watch the game for free on NLTV to those seasos that can’t go? I know it’s tight but paying again to watch it just feels like paying twice.
- If it’s a no go to the above, how do I go about gifting my tickets to someone else or give back to club to resell?

Thanks all.

I’ve mentioned being able to “donate” season tickets for matches I can’t attend for a while.

I’d like to be able to offer them to those that can’t afford to attend, especially this time of year as well. It’s hard to do with a physical copy unfortunately.

I work shifts, and am often unable to make matches, but brought a season ticket to support the Club/COSU.

If we were flying high, and selling out, it’s a shame I have three tickets (mine and two children) that is unused and could go to someone less fortunate.

With the cost of everything these days, attending football is a luxury item, and I’d be happy to donate if I was able too.

I’ve got a season ticket at Atlético Madrid and their system works quite well. You can “sell” your season ticket seat back to the club for games you can’t attend, and they then give you back a percentage of whatever they take in as a discount off your season ticket for the following season. The longer in advance you put it up for sale, the more you get back. If it doesn’t get sold, you don’t get anything.

Gives fans an incentive to make their ticket available knowing they’ll get the money back next year, the club wins with extra income reselling the ticket, and another fan can buy a decent seat/a few together as a group, which isn’t always that easy in the more popular areas of the ground.

This probably isn't possible because SUFC don't own the rights to stream matches, DAZN do. I can't see DAZN being willing to give you access to a match stream when they don't get any of the money you paid for your season ticket.

As above, streaming rights aren't owned by the Club so you're not going to get streaming for free. We brought up the idea of allowing swaps or re-sales on season tickets earlier this year and Tom shut it down quite emphatically.

From our Liaison Minutes, 25th July: The question of a formal way of donating season tickets which are unused for games was discussed. TL didn’t think this could be done, as it would go against the terms and conditions of issue. It was noted that several other Clubs do already do this, notably Orient and Norwich. COSU members are discussing this.

My son and I visited Anfield at Easter to watch a Liverpool game. I used friends season tickets - simply registered an account at Liverpool FC, downloaded an app, linked to my friends account and he transferred his season tickets for that match to me. So it can easily be done if the technology allows. I believe he can also put tickets for games he can't make back to the club for resale.

Think that's what is key there.

They certainly don't do that at Espanyol Sam. I'll be missing my 4th match of the season against Osasuna on Sat,because I prefer to watch us play on DAZN's livestream against Hartlepool.
