UNITY!

During the last few seasons, despite all the s#!+ we have been through there has still been some of the proudest times of my 40 plus years of supporting this club.
As the thread title alludes to, it's been the way the support was so united, so together.
This was enhanced by the commitment and passion shown by the players, who were also going through a terrible time with non payment, uncertainty etc.
All being brilliantly guided by Kevin Maher.
Now however I feel sad that that togetherness and unity within the fan base is dissolving somewhat now the common enemy is gone.
Please can we get back to what is frankly the best support in this division by a country mile, can we not boo a club icon such as Kevin Maher...instead can we not get right behind the lads (mainly the same lads) who showed they care about this club as much as we do.
Back the boys on Tuesday....clap a little more, shout and sing a little more, moan a little less and make RH hard for the opposition not our own team.

Hear, hear. Let's also not forget that those players that are being slagged off are normal people, like SZ members and they have feelings too. Reading some of the moans and criticism on here in the past few weeks, I just hope that those players don't read them. They may not be Premiership standard, but I doubt if any ever try to give less than their best. Let's get behind the boys, in tough times as well as good, that way we have a chance to get out of this league, if not this season then soon.

Think of those nights against Chesterfield, Notts County etc etc where we had 1 sub or players not paid it was us against the world...even our own chairman ffs. We were so united in those moments, now?
Kev makes a sub that some don't like and there are chants against him.....what the actual €^^^
Let's get together (again) and show this tin pot two bob league who we are.

I agree with this 100%. There have certainly been much more "fun" times to support the club, and there have been a million occasions when the football on show has been better, but I cannot remember a time in my 35 years or so of supporting the club where I have felt like I want to be at Roots Hall more to show my support to the new owners, the players that stayed when they didn't know when their next wages were coming and the management team that have frankly worked under near impossible circumstances for years. I know that some people disagree on the whole Maher In/Maher Out debate, but lets all try to rally behind the team and the club as a whole and help it get back on its feet. The club is recovering, very slowly, and we need to stay unified to keep this rehabilitation on course.

There's been times this season where I have wanted to stick pins in my eyes, especially at home games, but I cannot stay mad at this group of players. They have given me some of the proudest moments of my Southend supporting life. They have more than earned a bit of leeway and this was realistically always going to be a transitional season while we get used to new ways of working.

A lot of those boys will be mentally exhausted over the last few years and that's probably shown for a few of them. We know what they're capable of if we can lift them up again.

It’s remarkable the difference in mood on Saturday compared to the Barnet game. I’d hoped that somehow beating Daggers would kick something off a bit more positive .. and thank goodness we had an encouraging result & performance with all the players looking like they wanted it (which to be fair they hadn’t the previous week). There’s nothing like a few good wins to turn the tide and I’m hopeful we can push on and really go for the play offs now.

I think a lot of it is that people are sick of this league now and were hoping COSU coming in would make an instant impact on our fortunes on the pitch. It will soon, I truly believe it will and if we do make the play offs I think we’ll win them and get this fantastic club back to the EFL. We never do things the easy way.

Totally agree. The fact that our away form is a lot better than our home form is due to the fans getting on the players back when something goes wrong. Expectation is too high and we should be supporting kev and the lads through thick and thin and not getting on to them when things go wrong. If we had the same home form as away we could be pushing the playoffs

The atmosphere at Dagenham was decent from the off. The players were up for it, they pressed hard, chased every ball, stuck some hard challenges in and played positive football.

A decent atmosphere 99.9% of the time comes from what is shown on the pitch from the players. If they put it in, the fans will respond.

I agree with all that has been said before. COSU have been like a breath of fresh air and at long last we have owners who have the Club at heart. Progress shouldn't be solely measured by League position. COSU know we need to get back to the EFL for many reasons, but a million and one things needed dealing with and all at once.
All that Justin said at the Cliffs is slowly happening, but I don't recall him promising immediate promotion to the EFL.
I wish that supporters could their head round the fact that football teams lose matches. Sometimes like most they can have a bad day at the office. Players do make mistakes, even the very best.
Unfortunately some thought promotion was a guarantee with new owners and expectations were way too high. Making Roots Hall an unpleasant place to be, when things are not going to plan.
Let's celebrate a few things, our bills are paid , no court appearances pending, no Transfer Embargo, seemingly no problem attracting Sponsors. The Training Ground is up and running and most of the capacity restored at Roots Hall.
I make that a few good wins !

In theory that would be great, but we have now turned into a " normal " football club, nothing could replicate the hated towards the RAT, it was like we were fighting a common enemy like in wartime. Currently we are in the Cold War everyone trying to say their way is the way forward.
Hopefully, we'll all sing from the same hym sheet, but I fear that is only going to happen with success! UTB

Whilst you make good point 99.9% is to high. On Saturday we were running bit late after enjoying one more in the pub. As we came down the main road from the Stn you could hear the away end loud and proud. Without a doubt that would have an effect on players in the dressing room at NL level. Raise ours and spoil their last minute instructions.

So before ball has been kicked us fans can do our job. What we shouldn't do is appear lethargic because its Fylde, they have no support and we except to win. We would slate the players for that attitude so lets make sure we play our part fully.
