Southend United's Under-18 side today picked up the first point of their Youth Alliance Cup Group 2 campaign after a goalless draw at home to Gillingham.
Neither side looked like scoring during the first half, but James Lindie was unfortunate on a couple of occasions during the second period as Blues searched for their first win of the competitive season to no avail. This was, though, a dooged performance that will lift spirits ahead of a trip to Colchester next Saturday.
A full match report will appear on the Shrimpers Trust and Southend United official websites over the next couple of days, and I'll also be putting together the second monthly review for SZ in the next week.
