Tyrone Barnett

Jai

President ⭐
Contract has been cancelled by Shrewsbury. Expect this means he has something lined up.

He'd be a good signing for them, would have him here if we could afford his wages.

According to the B.B.C. Barnett has now signed for Wimbledon - and that should be good for both parties.

Not that I have that much interest in player wages (because you can never tell what is truth and what is rumour) but it would seem that Barnett's wages are not an issue for Wimbledon - a team with smaller crowds than us, that is.

Decent signing for them, they're lacking in a bit of size up front. It's not so much that we couldn't afford his wages, more that he's on a fair whack and given what we already have upfront it's probably not a worthwhile use of the money. I imagine when we went back in for him the other week it was partly a ruse to keep Cox's agent from stalling on us and partly insurance in case he pulled out.

We're probably looking for a striker who puts in the effort every game rather than only when he has just signed or is on TV.

Their crowds may be lower than ours but I'll hazard a guess that their club is ran far better than ours and that revenue through gate receipts would be used more productively...

The thing about Tyrone Barnett is that I always thought he was about two stone overweight when he played for us. I wonder how much sharper and quicker he would be if he lost that two stone.
