Question Twitter - Anyone use it?

Well? Any of you zone folk got to grips with this yet? I was curious so made an account and it seems to me to be just a way for us ordinary folk to stalk a famous person without the threat of getting your collar felt, or am I missing something here?

Signed up, looked a bit fiddly, never used it. To be honest if I am that bothered about what my friends are doing I'll call them or text them and having random people you don't know knowing what you are doing is a bit worrying. Have no idea why some people care that much about the celebrities too, they are normal people just doing more glamorous things at times! The only interesting 1 would be Richie Forans on a Friday or Saturday night!

That's my first impressions. Lot of fuss over nothing. Unless, of coarse, you happen to be a celebrity. In which case it's great for inflating that already oversize ego by trying to ramp up your followers. And on the 'followers' point. Withing fifteen minutes of signing up I'd had two random people follow me in order for one to be the first to get to 100 on their list and one porn follower from some tart in Southend (apparently) encouraging me to visit her private chat site!

I currently have as one of my followers an 80's artist who had two of the top five selling singles that decade. I was a little perturbed but it turns out he's an alright bloke, just getting followers to listen to his internet radio show. Very good when he's on too.

So how is George Micheal these days? ;)

Oh and have to applaud you on your avatar pic. She's been missing from TV for far to long and good she's on the mend. Plus, her replacement, Gail Porter has REALLY let herself go. Huge pair of baps though

It's Holly Johnson as it happens. He also likes his football, and is a pretty nifty painter, having his work in exhibitions and that. Sort of heartening to know that at least one washed-up ex pop star isn't a one dimensional rehab case.

I reckon that's pretty cool - Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Trevor Horn produced some excellent stuff and if you watch the Frankie version of "Born to Run" on Youtube (as I did the other day, can't remember why) then you can tell they weren't bad musicians either. He washed himself up by the way and I suspect he has some cracking stories to tell.

I love it. Got about 70ish followers. Q-tip always posts some old songs/videos, MC Hammer's hilarious as is Tim Westwood (recognise). Some of the UK comics are OK, bit hit and miss. Bill Bailey's quite good - a lot of the others are clearly after new materials.

Just getting in to it. Just a few random followers.

Used to do it a lot at college as Facebook was banned there, but not so much now. Mainly use it to get updates (SUFC news etc.), have some celebs, but only ones that I like/find amusing/post useful tweets.

Twitter's what you make it. It's a great way, for example of following your favourite journalists. I don't have to trawl through the Guardian website for the latest from Martin Kelner or Sid Lowe; thanks to Twitter, they tell me when it's available. And SHrimperZone alumnus @iainmacintosh (Slipperduke) is always worth following.
