tube strike

big bloke

Guest
anyone planning on using the tube today and tomorrow i have been advised the following.

LU HOPE to have a service on all lines but reduced and not entirely over the entire line.
services will scale down from 12 today but are not expected to return to full service untill at least 8pm tomorrow.

District line unlikely to have a service east of Barking

if you want to make your feelings known then rather than have a go at the staff that are in,have a go at the picket lines that will be set up.

i work for LUL and yes they are a disgrace, there are alot of staff who would come to work but are scared of the RMT

This strike is ridiculous.
f%&k off they are! one of the only strongest unions we have left in the country!
RMT is always behind its memebers and rightly so!

they get a good wage, try working for a living

52 days holiday
free tube and bus travel for them and a partner
pension
starting salary £21k

Bob Crow is in Barbados sunning it up.
RMT reps should be rounded up and given to the iraqis

Not a bad starting. Which bus travel to you get free? All over london? All zones?

I'd have some sympathy if they didn't strike almost every year for some reason or another. I really don't see a valid reason for this strike, just the RMT getting it's knickers in a twist because LUL want to shift rotas about so staff are in the right places at the right times.

They then play the "safety issue" card to try and justify themselves.

The sympathy factor goes out of the window when strikes co-incide with holidays, hot weather etc. I'm glad to see this did nothing to disrupt last night's celebrations (though why thousands of people choose to congregate in central London has always baffled me).

The history of Unions and the work they have done on behalf of their workforce is fantastic and should always be acknowledged. The militancy that reigns supreme with the threats/fear of not joining in the strike is an absolute disgrace.

Time has moved on and so has domestic and European legislation. I CANNOT believe in this day and age there are not plenty of other measures that could be taken before a strike is necessary.

Personally I would threaten to sack the entire striking workers. I'd rather shut down the network for six to twelve months whilst training people that want to do a decent day's work. I'm guessing that half the existing workforce would be happy to be non-Union as well. You don't have to have a Union to have your voice represented any more. On the pay and conditions that these people enjoy there would be no shortage of people queing for work.

I think all LU workers are complete ****s. i bet they were rubbing their hands with glee when the july bombings happened as their pathertic 'signal problem' excuses can now be replaced with 'suspect package' and nobody will question them.
Tennis playing, beer swilling worker turns up late with a hangover, disrupts thousands of commuters, proudly says 'bomb scare' to cover his tracks and sits with his feet up doing nothing for the rest of the day.

I know 2 people who work for them. One's on over 50k and does very little and had 82 days holiday last year. The other has had 9 months sick in the past 2 years through stress (an absolute joke, he just plays golf) This organisation is a joke but we have no alternatives.

Quite. It makes me laugh when you hear the message 'thank you for travelling with London Underground'.

Yeah, funny that. I was going to choose another Underground network, but I chose LU because they're so bloody marvellous.

I know a large amount of people, in varying professions, who,

Don't get the first perk.
Work more than the working week.
Get far less Holiday.
Get paid far, far less.
And do a far more important and more dangerous jobs.

And for these people, striking is illegal.

So, unless you were held at gunpoint and told to work for the company, you do so by your own free will, and wanting to strike simply makes you a knob. In my opinion.

P.s This is aimed at no-one, apart from people who think striking is a great idea.

I think the guy to whom Cheese is referring to really didn't do himself or LU any favours, us commuters now have the wrong impression which sadly has stuck

People like me who worked for the railway not just LUL have to work bloody hard belive it or not its not all just about standing there!
