Travel to Rushden by coach

Just been speaking to my long-exiled brother and we've pretty much agreed to break the away league game duck for this season by heading up to Nene Park. Checked the programme and saw prices are £20 per person so obviously, for 2/3 of us, a car would be cheaper.

However, the evil of beer is calling and I can't begrudge my brother a beer if I'm going to drag him to an away game so I'm checking what time the coaches tend to arrive before away games and what time they tend to leave. Basically seeing if we can get half cut while we're there.

Also, has anyone had (or heard about)anything we might want to know in terms of parking or access to the ground? Hear the catering is excellent. Grand.

If you sign up for membership of the Trust, the trip would only cost you £19...

Car parking at Nene Park is atrocious by all accounts (I haven't done it by car, but I know many who have). Coaches tend to arrive at games in plenty of time for a few pints, although we do leave straight after the game, so obviously there's no time then.

Hope that's of assistance.

Its one of the decisions I make with regards to coach or car. When we go by car we usually arrive a couple of hours early. have a nose around the town and a few jars. In a coach, it's hassle free but they tend to time it to an hour to half hour before kick off?
I shouldn't really comment as I only lost my coach virginity last week and that was ten minutes late but in a car equally you would have been delayed.
If the coaches were to turn up an hour or an two before kick off i'd probably use them all the time.
Thank god for choice though....and don't forget the trains.

join the trust and it will cost you 12 quid on the coach. if you do go by car and park in the main car park be prepared for a long wait to get out of it after the match. it took us over an hour to get out, apperantly its the same for every match. but it is a pleasure going to rushden good facilities, not bad drive. see you there

Question is, do I trust the membership?

Well...yes, probably. How much is membership bearing in mind I'll be in Lufbra 30 weeks in the year, skilfully dodging tax? I assume the same but my point being, I probably won't get a great deal of benefiit out of a season membership if I'm gonna have to make my own way most times anyway.

As for the parking, might try some unofficial Rushden sites and see what they reckon.

Cheers for the help though

there is a grass paddock opposite the ground which charges (cant remember how much) but is easier to get out of compared to the main car park.

£7 a year or £10 for two and even if you don't use the coaches...it's all going for the cause eh?

That's actually a lot better than I expected. Do I get a badge as well saying something tedious and meaningless like the "Big Fan" scarves so common in Portsmouth?

Something's odd there though. If it costs £7 for a year and the saving is eight pounds, why the hell do you pay the twenty on games such as this? Honestly, this country.

And yeah it is for the cause though, you're right. Can't go whinging if I don't pull out the queen from time to time.

...perhaps you could make a donation and not feel so guilty in your savings then.....

Damn Diamonds. 12 of them have looked at my post and none of them have bothered to respond. Might even try Rivals in a sec

Parking has been no problem in past years - there's the farmers field opposite the ground and also lay-bys and side streets along the road going past the ground. R&D's crowds are well down this year so parking should be much easier this year, especially if you get there earlish. Is also a very easy ground to find.

PS Trust membership is well worth it just for the newsletter - a superb read, especially I would have thought for exiled shrimpers.

Go by car.

Park by the British Arms pub in Irthlinborough which is about 15 minutes walk from the ground - get a few jars before AND after the game ...

Coach Travel for Non Members is Generally £10.00 dearer than it is for Members. However on the 'shorter' trips this differential is normally slightly less.

Basically if you went to Rushden by Trust Coach & joined the Trust it would cost you £19.00 (or £22.00 if you joined for two years), however you would then get any further away trips at the reduced rate saving you around a tenner each time.

We have members from all over the Country & the World who don't use the Coaches but are Members of the Trust.

Other benefits of joining included a Monthly Newsletter, representation at Liaison Meetings with the Club to air fans views (take the striped shirt debacle), Free Admission to Trust events like the Q & A with Tilly & Brush coming up on the 7th Sept - and a whole lot more.

If you drive to Nene Park, DO NOT park in the Club car park unless you mind queueing for at least an hour to get out.

INSTEAD, take a left at the roundabout opposite the ground and head up the road into Irthlingborough, along here you will find ample street parking, and if you simply turnaround and face the way you wanna go after the game you'll find your exit terribly quick!

Also, the few (and they are few) puvbs are in this small town, if you carry on up the hill, although some of them are rather run down! There is one, just a little bit further on (although probably inly ten mins from ground) which does a nice bit of grub and beer, I think its called The Green Dragon, but I might be wrong.

If its any help I wouldnt bother going by train. Nearest station is Wellingborough, which is a 15 minute taxi ride to ground. Last time I went it cost £22 from St pancras for the train.
