PC Keith asked me to make you all aware that Bank Holiday Monday sees the unofficial Shakedown hit town, and with it being Bank Holiday the traffic will be horrendous -- especially if the weather is good.

Kent Elms corner will be very busy for the next few months so please allow tons of time if travelling to the Hall by car from outside the borough.

Cheers.

Avoid Kent Elms like the plague. You could take well over an hour and a half just getting past there. Better off going the back way along Rayleigh Road (A1015), straight on along White House Road, turn right on bigger roundabout up Nestuda Way back to the A127/Prince Avenue. Or faster still, the back way if you know it by turning first left on Nestuda Way, to end up coming down Manners Way (A1159), straight on to Victoria Avenue.

Or go through Leigh and along Fairfax Drive in Westcliff. AI3 will be better than Kent Elms but could still be slow.

Ordinarily Rayleigh road route would be an alternative, but hey ho the powers that be couldn't allow that....... 2 sets of single way traffic lights have put pay to that.....gridlocked all this week!

Cheers Ken. I'll probably head to my parents and leave there 30 mins earlier than I would have done

Sod that, take the A129 Rayleigh Road and turn off down Daws Heath, then Poors Lane, Scrub Lane and on past Belfairs School!

Nope. Nothing west of Billericay running. C2C seem ok.

C2C are running an amended Sunday timetable on Monday - 2 trains an hour through Basildon and 2 an hour down the other route which get to Southend at about the same time each half hour so if you miss one there's about a half hour wait till the next one.

A bit random...but if I was to go by bike is there anywhere at the ground it can safely be locked up?

Definitely. Chain it to the small gates at the bottom of the car park, near the flats.

Just out of curiosity though, what time do you think you will you be getting there roughly?

I would guess that the Kent Elms work will be suspended over the Bank Holiday.

Perhaps someone could report on the position today?

No traffic works today at all at Kent Elms, thus all the normal lanes are open and traffic flowing. It will be the same on Monday although the traffic flow will be much heavier.

From Basildon Standard web site posted three days ago

'During Easter and end-of-May school holidays, there will be two lanes Southend-bound kept open throughout the day. On the London-bound carriageway, there will be no peak lane closures and Eurovia will also endeavour to keep the off-peak closures between 9.30am and 3.30pm, to an absolute minimum.''

not sure where the other set of single way lights are, but the ones at the bottom of Fairfield Road, nearest to the Whitehouse Road junction, have been removed.
