Transfers - A Summary

So, it's past midnight and it appears that all activity involving SUFC has now concluded (unless a late deal has been done)

In - D. Scannell (5k)
- L. Barnard (75k?)
- A. Revell (150k)
- C. Masters (free)
- HR. Kanu (loan)
- A. Grant (loan)
- C. Mulgrew (loan)

Out - G. Richards (75k?)
- R. Foran (loan)
- G. Hooper (loan)
- S. Hammell (110k)

A good window in my opinion, some real young talent there, with a bit of T&B mastery, they will prove very shrewd aquisitions indeed.

Spent around 230k and recouped 185k (guesstimates)

I'm happy. Young players with some huge potential especially those on loan.

Revell and Barnard are both localish lads and seem to want to play for us.

Quality aside there's a nice balance to the fees, transfer arrangements, etc.

Time will tell but we've got more stability in our striking options now and I would guess the wages of the 7 coming in is roughly the same as the 4 gone.

Looking forward to seeing a few debuts on Saturday.

yeah we have bought very wisely imo and this squad seen below can go places with a few tweaks in my opinion.

Goalkeepers

1. D. Flahavan
13. S. Collis
?. C. Masters

Defenders

2. S. Francis
3. C. Wilson
4. L. Hunt
5. P. Clarke
6. A. Barrett
15. Z. Liptak
?. C. Mulgrew
Midfilelders

7. M.Gower
8. K. Maher
12. D.Scannell
14. H. Robson-Kanu
16. A. McCormack
17. T. Black
22. F. Moussa
23. N. Bailey
?. A. Grant
Forwards

9. R. Foran
10. C. MacDonald
11. A. Revell
19. L. Barnard
20. M. Harrold
21. G. Hooper
24. C. Ademeno

Looking at that reads very well indeed even the defenders imo doesnt look to bad as you have many players such as Francis, Hunt, Mulgrew and Grant who can all cover central defence aswell as the 3 recognised for that position.

Don't believe we got anything like this, I've read somewhere we took a very slight loss. Might be wrong of course.

Transfer Summary

Most of the ones he wanted are here and the Wolves lad is a good prospect. The one that slipped away was Calvin Andrew from Luton who I thought he would get given their financial predicament. The 300 grand offer didnt seal the deal though.
Loan signings are fine but if success arrives we could find ourseleves back to square one when they return to their clubs. But lets be positive !
The players bought provide an injection of pace and strength to our side which is a positive.
However, TILLY MUST PLAY THESE NEW FACES ! and not leave them languishing on the bench as he has done with others.
A premiership manager once said "You sign players who are better than the ones you have in order to strengthen the team, therefore you must play them"
You have orchestrated the changes you wanted Tilly now use them effectively.
Good luck to the Hamster back in Jockland. You will be missed !

Tilly has balanced the books perfectly

25k for Barnard
150k for Revell
5k for Scannell

110k for Hammell
70k for Richards.

Perfect business by Tilly, perhaps it will shut up some of the moaners but I doubt it.

yup, definately seems succsesful to me. And Tilly also did well in ballancing the books, probably because the club needs to pay for all the balls being lost lately.

Well no-one can moan we didn't try and spend even more cash then. $300k is a lot of money for someone unproven too....

There was I thinking Tilly was on the way out. Looks quite an impressive list to me. Play offs and promotion may be pushing it a bit, and may not be good for the club unless there's news on the ground to get some real defensive quality next time around. However I'm fairly confident any relegation worries are behind us. Before anyone scoffs at that there is really only a fine line between top 8 or 9, mid-table and being sucked into a relegation battle.

With the competition for places reserve games may well be a bit more meaningful for a few weeks. i can see Harrold banging one in in the next 20 games. :p

A quick view on Mulgrew. He was very highly rated when he came to Molineux but it hasn’t really happened for him. He was on loan at Dundee from Celtic previously and I get the impression he was their 'main player', taking free kicks, corners etc. He was well thought of there and has continued playing for the Scottish Under 21's. As somebody else has mentioned, I'm not sure whether left back is his best position, he often looks better at left midfield, and plays for his country in a defensive midfield role. I hope he does well down there.

Gutted the £300k offer was Calvin Andrew & we didn't get him, a very exciting prospect, would have been the "edge of the seats" player certain members of the Roots Hall crowd demand!

if we bagged him that would have been quality. still worried about our CB issues but other than that it's been a successful window. gutted to see hammell go but he leaves on good terms and with everyones best wishes. was a top bloke when i met him and it shows in the way he puts his family first and also in his performances on the pitch

Calvin Andrew would have been a great signing, every time i've seen him play for Luton he has impressed me with his pace and ability to hold the ball up, suprised they didn't agree for £300k given their situation
