A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Talks are still ongoing.

Have been told not to be surprised if there is a new face for the “proper” start to pre-season on Monday. But whether that’s a permanent signing, a trialist, or someone from another club training, or even us doing a player a favour I don’t know. Time will tell.

Atkinson it was then…He may not be the only new face…

I've been reading all the posts on here and I'm wondering with the new signings what will be the team setup and therefore what new signings do we actually need.

If we go 442 we definitely need more strikers and maybe the odd squad player. However most of the positions are covered. Probably the same in 532 (sincerely hope not) and maybe why brown keen on keeping Lennon

If we're going for a more England style 4231 then we're probably set and maybe only need a creative mid and a back up striker.

If browns going to tinker then we probably need a bit of all of the above. Just a thought

Id like to see 2 more strikers. Partly because im forever tainted by last season, and partly because it would give us more options and there is of course the chance that both could get injured.

If we are going for promotion we cant afford to be second best.

I feel its must we sign 2 strikers before ball kicked! 1 permanent and 1 loan will do.... Can't be going into the first game with just Murphy and rush.

But he is not on his original deal? Yes we have taken an option a couple of times but options taken on new contracts he signed? You seem to know what he is being paid- I don’t so you have the advantage on me- as you are in the know, as it were, can you share roughly how much less he is on the other members of the squad?

I too don’t agree on slaughtering players (often soon after, as been said, they were “first on the team sheet”) just because they want to leave. If Elvis wants out then he needs to find a club will to pay compensation- and given that might not be simple in the current climate keeping relationships all round on an even keel might be wise. I would like to think the agent would be giving good advice- sadly often their prime motivation is likely to be their fee. Maybe not in this case.
I guess we are paying him to the end of this month and would guess no one will want it dragging on beyond that.
Elvis isn't on his original deal because he's a free agent and no longer a SUFC employee. He played last season on a contract he signed as an 18 year old. The option the club exercised was a club option.

You don't have to be in the know to work out that the contract he signed as an 18 year old player in the reserves won't be on as much money the other first team players and what I've subsequently heard only backs this up.

If keeping relationships on an even keel is wise, is it unwise for the manager to being making such statements publicly?

Is the manager more concerned in securing the player's signature or in avoiding fallout for letting a homegrown player walk? Because that was the comment of someone more concerned about the latter than the former.

We will sign another striker, regardless of whether SA goes or stays.

There is a chance of a new face in the door before the start of pre-season, and expect to see trialist in for pre-season too. Both free agents, and potential loan deals.

I was told last week two are “close” with the GK being closest. I was expecting him to be announced today, but obviously got done before the weekend.

According to the Halifax Courier, Jake Hyde is not expected to leave the club despite "rumours":

I reckon we might add a couple of players(Atkinson and another) and as we are a non league team without a transfer window we will add as and when we need players when injured

Remember there is no transfer deadline so we can get players when ever.

Yes. This is a significant change compared with TFL (The Football League).

And one that will require a change in "strategy" with regard to budgets. Keeping some funds available during the season will allow players to be brought in if required. This is where us fans can play a key role by coming through the turnstiles & giving Phil Brown some room to manoeuvre.

A good start to the season & some momentum would be nice. :Thumbs up:

I know but we can't be going into the first game with just 2 strikers.

Our current forward options are Murphy, Rush, Akinola and Halford.

Appreciate that Akinola might be off but if there's time for a transfer out to be sorted, there's also time for a transfer in to be sorted. Most likely a loanee - and I think we were going to have a QPR and a Norwich youngster join us for pre-season.

It's also worth noting that Brown used a lot of 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 in his first stint.
