Training Ground Report : Monday 5th Sept

I was driving past Boots n Laces at about 11.30 this morning and was surprised to see all the players cars in the carpark as I thought they'd get a day off after yesterdays efforts in the heat but , no , the whole first team squad were in training. The players who played a full part v. Old Ham were just finishing and were told to be back normal time tomorrow. However the thing that left me chuffed was firstly seeing Wayne Gray in full training but then it dawned on me the quality IMHO of the players who DIDNT play a full part yeterday ie. Gremink , Juppy , Spinner , Jay Smith, Bentley , Pettifer , Gray and Eastwood. I think we'll be allright this season . I saw some moments of the best football i've seen at The Hall in 30 plus years and take my hat off to Tilson and Brush and the players for getting it right on the pitch shame the off pitch service is pish poor ie ticketing and matchday catering but hey ho , im a happy Shrimper right now

I say that in my experience, the matchday catering at Roots Hall has improved this season. You can get a decent selection of filled rolls in the Shrimpers Bar before the game and during the game, the service in the tea bar in the SW corner of the ground (which has opened up this season) is courteous and fast!!!

I've given up on bringing my own coffee and sandwiches

Having givent he catering another chance on Sunday, I'd also suggest that people get pies instead of burgers. I was pleasantly impressed with that.

Less so with the chap wearing a West Ham shirt serving me but there you go...

Haven't tried one of the rolls in the Shrimpers yet - but did see a steady trade....

Can't beat the chips in the Fish House though - but that's another discussion

Chicken and Mushroom PUKKA PIES!!! - they taste sooooo good and keep you warm.

*waiting for grim to make a sacarsitic comment*

Not sure Roots Hall do it...but Chicken Balti pies with a Cheese and Onion McCoys crisps used as a scoop is the ultimate football snack.
The pies at Barsnely are very nice indeed...went there last season.
