Train/Underground People help??

Ricey

Just call me Mork ⭐⭐🦐

I am looking to go to London on sunday taking the misses up to the London Eye for her birthday and was wondering how to get there?? I am leaving from Stansted station will they be running times etc etc. I have no idea how to work the websites they all confuse me LOL!

Rep to people who can help me out :)

Ricey, Westminster or Embankment are the best tube stations for the London Eye. They are both on the Circle and District Lines. So, if you're coming from Stansted, get a train straight in the London Liverpool Street and then the Circle Line round to Westminster or Embankment.

Then just hope for a nice clear day, it really is fantastic when the weather is good (and still top drawer if it's not!).

Enjoy!

Usually engineering work on the tubes so you might have problems there.

Isnt there a TFL website where you can just put from what tube station to where and it will tell you if there is engineering work on that line? Have used that for when i go to the Oval....dont bother for the way back cos finding the right station is hard enough.

No planned works on the District or Circle Lines this weekend. Which, it has to be said, is a minor miracle...

Think you can hop round from l'street to moorgate (circle, ham/city or met), then northern line to embankment aswell....other option maybe incase of engineering works.

Sod the big wheel. If you really want to impress her you should take her up the OXO tower at dinner. It's a bit of a tight squeeze but you should be ok.

Thanks for the help fellas hopefully should be an enjoyable day out for the misses :)

I was going to say if you want to impress the missus, knock public transport on the head and get a limo to take her there. You might even be able to get to the OXO tower in the limo which would be different.

9.45am400 people trapped on London EyePress Association guardian.co.uk, Tuesday March 25 2008 Article historyAbout this articleClose This article was first published on guardian.co.uk on Tuesday March 25 2008. It was last updated at 09:45 on March 25 2008.Four hundred people were trapped on the London Eye wheel last night when it was stopped for urgent repairs.

Passengers spent an hour suspended in capsules up to 135m (450ft) above the ground at the South Bank attraction.

Staff spoke to the trapped tourists via intercom, instructing them to open emergency supplies of water, blankets and commodes.

Operators found a problem with one of the four tyres used to turn the wheel at about 6.10pm.

Each rotation takes about 30 minutes, but it took engineers about an hour to remove the faulty part. The wheel was then restarted with its three other tyres.

Liz Edwards, a London Eye spokeswoman, said: "We had two-way communication with all the guests, so we spoke to everyone to reassure them.

"There was a technical fault with one of the tyres so we thought the best thing to do was stop the wheel until it could be repaired.

"Engineers came along and the guests opened comfort packs with water, blankets and glucose tablets. There were commodes as well."

The passengers were offered warm drinks and a refund when they got off just after 7pm.
