Not a great spectacle of football. The first half was pretty forgettable. A draw was probably a fair result for both sides with neither ever really getting going. A good away point against our closest rivals in the table - and I think most would have been happy with that this morning. The biggest concern,I think, is that a lot of the players seem to be looking tired and leggy - a result of several back to back games on heavy pitches. Embargo allowing, maybe we need to freshen up in a couple of areas. Pleased to see Asante get some pitch time - his first involvement was to send a shot narrowly the wrong side of the post. I think he was going to be on earlier-he was ready to come on as Corr equalised so the change was delayed for a while.

Just got back. Living in the West this was my first sight of the side this season. Very impressed with Barker and Ferdinand, also Easton looked good. Booking apart, I thought Gilbert looked fairly solid, not like people on here have been describing him. It seemed a waste to have Grant wide left and until he had to come off he looked like someone trying but not succeeding to get involved.
Poor game really but a draw was a fair result. Lots of stray passes but everyone seemd fully committed. A good goal also, well worked. Easton drive forward to the edge of the box, Hall made a good run and was found and Corr did what he does well - uses his physical strength to make sure it is his touch that gets to the ball first.
Like the red strip!

I just hope everyone had a safe trip.

They're animals down there.

Shade unlucky not to gain 3 points, but a draw will do,liked Sawyers work when he came on good to see him doing the buisso for us,traffic on the M5 a joke missed out on some valuable drinking time,oh well onwards and upwards.UTB

Listening on the radio, we were crying out for pace up front as Torquay had a square back four and looked vulnerable. To prove the point, Asante burst through them with his first touch and almost scored. Blair was huffing and puffing, but again, never looked like scoring. So I personally would like the swap much earlier, especially away from home where pace is more important. Who knows, we may have knicked all three points with a more direct striker.

First half was dire but I thought the second half was a really good game of football - end to end for a time. The pitch didn't help at all - encouraged hoofing. I agree that some of the team looked a bit leggy. Grant's engine didn't look at its best before he got injured. Hall wasn't quite as lively as usual either. Ferdinand and Sawyer were both class. Coughlan and Barker were very solid but it looked like there was a bit of a mix up for their goal.

Evans - 7 Couldn't do much about the goal and made a couple of decent saves. Distribution was pretty poor.
Clohessy - 7 Looked a bit tired but put in some decent crosses.
Barker - 7 Solid and dependable
Coughlan - 8 Reads the game well and won the vast majority of headers
Gilbert - 7 Pretty solid - clumsy booking
Ferdinand - 8 Kept the ball really well and battled hard. I'd like to see him push forward more
Easton - 8 Battled well and was more creative in passing
Hall - 7 Looked a bit tired but made the goal and never gave up
Grant - 6 Tired and didn't find his way into the game as much as usual.
Corr - 7 Did his job well, steered the ball home well for the goal.
Sturrock - 5 Moves always seemed to break down as soon as he got involved.

Subs
Sawyer 8 If he'd been on longer he;d probably have been MOTM. Always running, touches of class and no one could ever get the ball off him
Asante 7 Not really long enough but he could have won it with his first touch

TBV 8 Some excellent songs for the female lino - easily the most famous person on show.

The 'Southend Jedi' one was quality beyond compare!

First time I've seen Ferdinand - what a fine player. Great to see Sawyer again and that was a sweet little move (with Easton and Hall) for our goal - top marks to Bazza for being there to clinch his 14th of the season too. And Kyle Asante --- what a delight to see pace up front, he looks very promising indeed. Thought Coughlan had a good game too. Great spirit not to give up when their goal went in. Lovely to be on the terrace in spring-like sunshine and see all you fellow travellers.

Interesting that there's not many match reports posted. Poor, poor first half which only livened up slightly in the second. Not the best match ever, but a difficult place to go and a point was a good return.

Evans - 7 Distribution is poor needs a lot of work on it. A couple of very good saves.
Clohessy - 6 Tired performance - crosses a good ball, but has imo struggled the last couple of games.
Barker - 7 Solid as always
Coughlan - 7 Great in the air, slow on the ground
Gilbert - 6 Solid enough
Ferdinand - 8 Does everything simple, very good and confident on the ball.
Easton - 7 Got stuck in , battled hard and saw some good passing from him.
Hall - 6 Tired performance for me, we know he can cross a great ball, just not consistant enough yet.
Grant - 6 Tired performance, thought he struggled to get into the game.
Corr - 7 Another goal, that's what strikers are for.
Sturrock - 5 Tired very average game.

Subs
Sawyer 6.5 - A couple of little flashes, but needs to know where he is on the pitch!
Asante 6 - Should have scored with first touch, good to see some of the kids coming through.

Not my favourite ground to visit, glad it's over, a point each was the fairest result.

Would agree with this post though I would give Blair a 6 - the Hole in the Wall was good both before and after the match
