How long did it take Tilson to realise Black was shocking today! Subbed off in the last few minutes!

He should have been subbed off at half time, by far his worst game for the club.

Why does Tilson again dither with subs?

Walker and Bailey didn't have very good games either.

i would have liked to have seen walker given a bit longer... maybe taken black off... put kanu on the left and gower on the right with barny up top. wanted to try to get kanu on the ball a bit more. black was terrible today... tilly needs to really sort out our wingers this summer because he just doesn't cut the mustard IMO

As I said on the ratings thread, Walker was subbed due to injury. It wasn't tactical. Whole heartidly agree that Black should've come off far sooner though.

He signalled to the bench and within a minute or so he was off. They didn't even get Barnard warmed up. He straight away stuck an ice pack on his groin as well. Could just be because he likes it, but methinks it's got something to with it!

Yeah I think Tommy has been poor in the last three games I've seen him.

For me the swap at half time would have been to put Barnie on up top with Walker and switch Kanu to the left of midfield with G Man going onto the right.

However with Walker pulling up in the second half I think Tilly wanted to "keep his powder dry" and held off bring Grant Scannell or Moose on for Black until later in game.

But at the present time individual displays aren't as important as the result and the team.

If Walker is out for Monday Tilly will go with Barnie up top along side Kanu with today's midfield and defensive starting line ups against Swindon.

Scannell is nowhere near ready to start a game! He needs to be playing the odd 15/30 mins untill the end of the season then sent off on loan somewhere to get the games in at the start of next season.

Thought Scannell might have made an impact on this game, Swansea didn't look that good defensively, so would have liked to see him given the chance.

Black sub was prob 10-15 too late IMO, but Tilly & Brush were maybe content with 1 point, as they had the option to make double sub of both Grant and Moussa for 25 mins, by giving Bailey a rest, since he had been subject/targeted by at least 3 bad/heavy tackles and was maybe not 100% fit to start with [played a withdrawn holding role instead of marauding forward as normal].

I haven't seen anything in Scannell yet to show that he's up for playing a big part in a promotion-chasing team. He may be brilliant but I don't think we're in a position to just try him and cross our fingers.

Anthony Grant has a Premier League pedigree and has plenty of league games behind him from his previous loan spells. If someone comes in for Tommy Black I think it should be him.

I agree with this.

The problem with having Black in the side is he just won't defend!

Whoever plays right back with Black in front of him is constantly exposed a la N. Forrest as black will drift and not protect him.

Swansea noted this also by having their number 8 constantly wide to pull francis out of position, and create a 2 on 1 situations.

Tommy Cack I am sorry to say is in my book useless.

He has scored one goal all season, offers very little going forward I think and defensivley he is worse that useless. For a player to have played at the level he has for so long I would have expected so much more.

I personally think the worst aspect of his game is that he is a total bottler and never gets stuck in where there is any chance of getting a knock.

For the first time in living memory I didnt stand up and clap the player that came off. I feel Tilly really needs to find a winger and quick.

Not sure on Scannell but would not say no to him dipping into the loan market. I cant watch much more of Tommy Black.

So I'm guessing that the consensus on here is that he shouldn't have the extra year option on his contract offered? Don't know if it was worded so that it's the club's choice or his whether to extend it or not.

IMO his best games were playing up front.

Based on the games I've seen him play and reports from elsewhere, he's been exactly what I expected when he joined us.

He's the kind of player who will play poorly a lot of the time but when he plays well he wins you matches. Mitchell Cole was similar. I wouldn't say poor acquisition as he has contributed strongly to several wins. I didn't actually think he was that bad yesterday to be honest.

You really are a dog in the manger aren't you? As we are now in the top 6, even you can hardly call for Tilly's head. Obviously Tilly lacks your expertise in football management, so perhaps you should offer him your services and depth of knowledge in the vagaries of football management.

It may have also escaped your notice that Walker was subbed very early in the second, albeit for an injury, so he hardly dithered over that issue.
