Togos team bus hit by gunfire

I seem to recall there were grave misgivings about the security in Angola in the build up to this tournament, and now this has happened before a ball has been kicked

Somehow i can't see the competition being completed

Daily Mail website has released names of the players that were injured.

BLUEBLOOD - Agree with you totally, definately going to be two stances on this one though.

1. Too dangerous to continue with the tournament putting so many at risk.

2. Interrupting the tournament is exactly what the gunmen/terrorists want.

The far greater risk will be in the stadiums/towns themselves. 10's of thousands of people are at risk of becoming targets. I for one hope that no games are played - just because I'm worried that the tragedy won't end here.

My brother worked in Angola for a time. If he left the heavily guarded compound of ex-pats he had to take two armed security guards with him or he wouldn't of made it back. It's like holding the World Cup in Iraq....crazy decision.

If Togo have now pulled out (thanks Andy!) I reckon the whole tournament will fall down.

It is a tough call .. as pointed out above if the tournament is scrapped then the terrorists have won and no one wants that .. but what if another incident were to occur ?? You simply can't put sport above human life

Worrying times indeed
