No two ways about it- this was a brilliant point for the team.

Sure, we were at home, but Swansea are clearly the finest team to come to Roots Hall this year in my opinion. It is clear why they are up there. But the boys more than matched them today, out playing, the best away team in the league, for the majority of the match.

I walked away today feeling emmensly proud of both the players and the fans, who I thought were brilliant.

I sat down the blue voice section and the singing between the two sets of fans (and 'north bank' and West Stand) was brilliant. Great banter.

While the likes of West ham etc etc may gain the title of 'best fans in the country', when we want to- we do have a great bunch. I love the atmosphere at the club. After going to Fulham against Newcastle and sitting in a group of fans who had all come from over the country- it made me realise how much closer lower league fans are. We are all from Southend. You get people from Devon supporting Man Utd, but you dont get people from (born in) Devon supporting Southend. This for me is what makes the atmosphere around the club so very good. And with the revival of the north bank, we can become a set of fans that the club can be proud of.

What i'm getting at is just how much today made me realise how much I love our club.

I really really enjoyed todays match.

Today- we watched two Championship sides.

Maybe not this year, but next year we will become a force again in this league.

Up the Blueeeeessss!

I'd agree with the majority of the last post, initially I was a little disappointed not to win the game. However after a bit of reflection I agree that in the scheme of things today was a good point earned rather than two points dropped.

Whilst I didn't rate Swansea as a "Top of the League" side, I think that the wind didn't help either side perform as they can, Swansea seemed a nigglely in your face kind of side and probably finished the stronger side after we bossed the 1st half.

Overally I'm quite happy with the point, here's to three at Swindon on Monday.

I agree we were good today. Swansea looked like the team more likely to win albeit with a very generous referee on their side but we stuck in there.

At the start i would have taken a draw and overall, i'm happy with it! On paper this was probably our hardest game on the run in with the possible exeption of Carlisle away. Swansea certainly are not the best team we have seen at RH this season though.

Overall verdict: Good Day and good point, looking forward to Swindon now!

ps. The Fish House dinner was good also!:offtopic:

Mate the Fish House dinner was fantastic.

A wise call on our part to eat in!!!

From the last 3 games i'd have hoped for 5-7 points and we've achieved that and i thought we could have sneaked a win, but a draw was a fair reflection of todays game IMO.
On the subject of being proud about my club, i always am...

i thought they got in our faces but their defence wasn't rock solid... ours definitely looked better. i would have taken the point beforehand but thought with the number of clear cut chances we created (which were definitely more than swansea), it was a bit of a shame not to get a deserved 3 points. however the run continues and i'm glad we didn't go gung ho at the end, as they were definitely a dangerous team

doncaster are still by far the best team i'm seen though

Great post 'BaileytheBlue' nice to see someone posting something positive on here unlike a certain other poster!!

I cam away from Roots Hall today feeling really proud to be a Southend fan. We more than matched the best team in the Division and showed that we are one of the best teams in League One.

Quote from a Swansea forum - "The southend fans were shocking!"

Once again it might sound like the singing is loud but it was hard to hear you down the other end of the ground.

The poor accoustics will I'm sure take the blame again, but people need to sing a bit louder. It was good to see the East Stand trying but lets turn the volume up a bit.

Good result for us & only 1 defeat in 11 games. Need a win at Swindon now though & the Walsall game next week is going to be a tester.

And this is exactly why we are campaigning so strongly for a return to the North Bank...

If you have yet to vote in favour please do so people...

It's time to get back in there and make a real difference to the atmosphere for the last two seasons or so at Roots Hall..

Felt proud of the team for the way they battled on against what I thought was a poor performance from Swansea and against two out of the three officials (don't know what the west one was like) without losing their heads. Macca's booking was harsh, he barely opened his mouth and those lip readers amongst us didn't think he said anything too bad.

Agree with Pubey, Doncaster far and away the best team I've seen at Roots Hall this season, and we have to hope we avoid them in the initial play off matches.

Thats the spirit lads. Agree with your positivity.

Have Donny peaked too early ? We are on the upward curve and they might not be quite aware how much we have improved since we last met them.

We need not fear any team in the division, its all about us performing to the level that we are capable - Leeds, Notts Forest & Swansea & putting away more of the huge number of chances we created against all three.

I thought it was a cracking game of football given the conditions. The change in confidence from earlier in the season is striking. Thought we played some super football with the attacking players all bright, alert and keeping hold of the ball.

Weren't that impressed with Swansea but you can't argue with their record, although I agree with others that Donny are the best team I've seen at our place this season , we were fortunate to beat them that day.

We don't need to fear anyone in this League , confident we'll make the play-offs.

Swansea are a better side than Doncaster are, even though Donny were very impressive when they came to Roots Hall.

It's harsh to solely judge Swansea on yesterday when conditions played such a massive part in the outcome.

Only criticsm for me was Tommy Black and the fact we had so many crosses with no one in the box to get on the end of them.

Still need a big man up front imho.

Donny the best Ive seen so far!
