Tiscali Broadband

Has anybody else on here got ADSL Tiscali Broadband?
Over the past week or so I've noticed problems with my connection. It keeps dropping the connection usually when changing websites and also takes 2 or 3 tries to reset the router & get back online. There doesn't seem to be any issues with the router or my PC. Is this sort of issue happening to any other Tiscali customers?

I am wondering if it's a knock-on effect from the £6.49 campaign they're running now and their setup cannot cope with the increase in demand.

Other than that I am guessing it's a local problem related to my phone-line.

Some of the excuses they have got on their online help pages as to the reason for slow connections are laughable. E.g. connected telephones, personal computers running in the vicinity of routers and, get this, Christmas Tree lights! :fury:

Grrrrrrrrrrrr stand back rant incoming.

Not entirely relevant to Glasgows post but I too am having ma-hoo-ssive internet issues at the moment with Pipex (now Tiscali).

Apparently the Engineers have been working on the exchange in the Basildon area to make the transition from Pipex to Tiscali. As a result, myself and many others are getting Error 680: No dial tone and are therefore unable to the internet.

'They have an engineer looking at this issue but are unable to give a timescale on when this issue will be resolved' This issue started on Sunday night and doesnt look like its gonna get resolved any time soon. Wucking Fankers the lot of em.

Not on Tiscali myself, but I suspect you are right. I would say they invested in a Marketing campaign rather than IT infrastructure. You are now tied into a contract and will have a devil of a job getting out of it - buy maybe successful.

There is a piece of freeware (software) that shows graphically where the bottlenecks are - but I can't bloody remember what it is called
