TIME TO THINK BIG

WE COULD be approaching mid-table obscurity by then. WE COULD be drawn against ARSEnal in a two-legger after disposing of Slothenham Sh1tspur by way of penalties in our very own Carling Cup. WE COULD be celebrating after permission to build Fossets is granted by our very own forward-thinking Southend Borough Council. (bows down gracefully in front of keyboard). We could be selling Freddy to man ure for many monies, and getting loanstars from them in return as well. WHAT players in their right mind beneath the CCC wouldn't want to come to us and play under the guidance of the wonders that are Tilly and Brush!

wasn't you watching the man u game then?or our well earned point against 2nd in table PNE.We, my friend are on the up and up.grab a flight one weekend and come to the Hall, you'll be pleasantly suprised at our progress. yours in sport.

I was indeed watching the game against Manchester United and, like many others, wondered how a team which more or less played the Premiersh!te leaders off the park were lying some points adrift at the bottom of the table. And the point against Preston North End was also a great bonus for the team but hardly a surprise. In fact we should all feel cheated by the performance of the team in the League this season ~ well, up to a week ago at least. These two games have demonstrated that the team can indeed play a decent game of football. So why is it bottom of the table?

I don't need to "grab a flight" to observe the progress of the team. It's plain to see in black-and-white. We're the 24th best team in the Football League Championship ~ with one of the brightest talents in football outside of the Premiersh!te. And, after 30 continuous years of going to "the Hall", I think I deserve a break ...

Bottom of the table because our defenders were not strong enough. With Sodge back we're looking an altogether different prospect. He's making those around him improve. For the last 30 years i've been going to the Hall this is the most exiting era.I just know we'll turn our league form around starting with Plymouth next Sat.BRING HOME OUR EXILES!

Lets hope so, we need another 39 points from 29 games to have a chance of staying up.

Current points average per game = 0.64 Points per game, points per game needed to stay up = 1.34

4 points from every 3 games played is just about possible at the moment, but will still require a massive change in our fortunes. Can we do it?

Let's hope we can. But every other team in the division will have fans drawing up the same conclusions about survival / promotion; it's going to be a bumpy ride ...
