We have an abundance of midfielders and it's not working with what we have at present.

Personally I would consider going 4-4-2 next week with a midfield of Hurst, Clifford, Payne and Leonard and playing Corr plus Barnard up front.

It's about all we can do. I think we have been sussed out with the 4-3-3/4-5-1 system.

I said we had been sussed weeks ago so I agree with you but Defo not Barnard up front as currently he is masquerading as a professional footballer.

Not likely to change the formation away from home though is he? If it were me then I'd go along with that, and I'd start Jason Williams, let's have a forward who will run at defences alongside Corr.

Lol I've not seen Williams but there's a huge difference between running at a tired defence at the end of the game. And starting a match.

I'd bring laird in for Atkinson and maybe Clifford for Straker so we have a bit more energy.

We looked ok at the start of the season playing 4 4 2 with Laird and Leonard in centre midfield. So midfield of Timlin (left mid), Laird, Leonard and Hurst

Corr, Barnard and Eastwood can all play up front in a 4-4-2 as they will have done that since they were kids.

Stop taking all of these short corners and free kicks - we did it yesterday straight after we had scored by a corner - unbelievable.

Try to encourage White to make the odd overlap, even as a decoy to give Hurst a chance

Have Leonard as the more attacking of the 2 centre midfielders.

Try to sign someone with some pace

It was going well until you mentioned starting Barnard.

Laird for Atkinson. Not issues with Atkinson I think he is a really good player but he looks tired to me and lacks a bit of presence. Laird was pivotal in our early season run and for me he is a key player that isn't getting a look in. We cant change defence and were limited upfront.

Personally I would play Corr up front with Leonard as an out and out attacking mid-fielder just in behind him. This would give Lenny the opportunity to use his surging runs to latch onto Corr's lay-offs. Worth a try in my opinion as there are goals in this lad, and absolutely nothing goal-side of Corr right now. Barnard and Freddie not cutting it so try something else, whats to lose!!

I've said it about 5 times now. Hurst should be playing on the left hand side cutting in on his right foot with Coker overlapping on his outside where possible. Atkinson wide right working up and down - Leonard working the centre of the pitch with Timlin, Clifford, Laird et al filling the remaining two place either side of him in midfield.

Difficult to change things too fundamentally at this stage of the season in terms of playing staff but Leonard must be converted to a centre half asap. He has the raw attributes to make it to the very top in that role - and in the short term could prove to be a masterstroke for PB and us in getting SUFC out of L2.

Agree with this. We have played some of our best football in years with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation, don't think the system is the problem. Our best performances were down to us dominating the midfield with industry, the players are quite frankly knackered now though. Need to freshen up a little and I'd bring Laird and Clifford back in (surely he's served his ban now?)

Sadly, I dont believe the formation will have any bearing on results, I do think we play better with 5 across the middle but that is purely aesthetics, the end results are similar. I also don't buy into the heavy pitch or tired players arguement, other teams have coped well enough. The truth is that this current squad is not good enough. They have played well in spells but that doesn't cut it when promotion is sought. A few loan players and the change in mentality that PB seeks will have more effect than changing the system or who plays where.

Too sweeping a statement. I would agree that SOME of the squad are not good enough and PB should be thinking now of getting shot of them and then building a side around those youngsters who ARE good enough.

PB got loads of midfieders so use some of them sooner rather than later before the season goes down the drain.God knows how Straker gets into the side.

ps can some let me know why we got Gomiss in what was all the hype about
