Time to deliver Mr Tilson!

Winkle

Manager
I have been thinking hard and listening to many shrimperzoners airing there views (and rightly so) about our tremendous start to league one football, and I have come to one conclusion and that is "would we be better off without tilly " and my answer is no. We have all been there and watched the last few seasons unfold, at the bottom of Div2 when tilly took over as he turned us around from playing in the conference. L.D.V Final and then back to back promotions so all in all we owe him something.
I cant accept that another manager could come in and care about the club as much as what he does, and for what ever reason things are not going the way he had planned, sticking with him is a must.
However, I do believe that he must now step up to the plate, make some decisions about the direction he wants to take the club in and get rid of some players who haven't made the grade.Admitting to signing players that are not good enough is hard but he has to,get rid of them. It seems that maybe he as suffered the deadly "expectation phenomina" were he could not possibly repeat the success of the last few seasons(baring last). In truth, we possibly all have raised "expectation" of our club because we are all passionate, and this reflects on the posts on this board.
Are we truly good enough with this squad to get in the playoffs? I think with a little tinkering and a new striker ,we are! I do also beleive that if things and players are not told (in no uncertain terms) that they are all playing for there future that we will, struggle to score goals all season and hoover around the bottom six!

We will soon know what Tilly is really made of.Its a doddle managing any team thats winning games, getting promoted, and getting to cup finals because they practically run themselves. The real proof of how good a manger is,is when the going gets a little bit rough. Remember Tilly is a young manager who is still learning the trade, this is the time he needs our support.

I think we are placing to much emphasis on Tilly here. One of the most important people at this club is Brushy. He's dealt with this sort of situation before and he's a wise head and he could be key in helping Tilly and the squad get over this bad patch. From what i hear Tilly is the motivator at the club and he's highly regarded by the players and at the moment i think he needs to get his confidence back in order to get the squad playing better again. In my opinion we are one piece of luck away from seeing the season turn around. I think we'll be fine.

An excellent post. Tilly and Brush are very much a team with complementary strengths. They will be as disappointed as we all are with our start to the season but the most important thing at the moment is not to panic. We must learn to play together as a team, allow the new players to settle (and this is bound to take time) and keep our focus on playing football on the ground. Playing the right way is the precursor to getting results which I am sure we will do. We must keep the faith and refrain from taking out our frustration by calling for Tilly's head, lambasting players who are doing their best etc etc. We will be fine, given time.
