I am getting fed up with the consistent player bashing appearing on SZ these days
I find the consistent criticism of Gutts, JCR and Paynter getting beyond the acceptable IMHO.
Every player has a dip in form and it can be various of reasons to do with that dip but confidence is a major factor. We all know the players do look at SZ every now and then and it cant be good for them to read all this negative cr*p.
JCR, the guy was August player of the month for christ sake. Gutts, one of our best players in the last 2 months of last year. Paynter probably didnt have a full and proper pre-season. Those guys will probably admit they havent played their best recently but I see them giving 100% everytime and thats good enough for me not to join the slagging crew.
We always knew this year was going to a big & tough step up but even I have been pleasantly surprised how well the team has done and the quality of football probably has deserved more than the 9 points we have accumulated so far. I can see us going from strength to stength as players get used to the speed and skill levels in the Championship.
I know this site is an open forum and I accept people have a right to air their views if a player has a stinker but I feel this has gone on too much now, lets all be supporters of our team.
A confident player is a good thing, I just look and what Martin O'Neill does, he makes his players confident and raises there game 20%. We all have a part to play this season helping us stay at this level of football. You have all witnessed what support can do for our team in the game vs Norwich, so come on chaps lets take a time out on player bashing.
