Tilson's weekend preview

One or two interesting things on Tilly's preview. It would seem that Barny declared himself fit for Tuesday night, when he was obviously still in discomfort. On the negative side, I don't think this did him or his team mates any great service but on the positive side, the desperate wish to get into the starting eleven is encouraging. (The previous interview with James Walker, although only a snapshot, does seem to reveal that there is a very good atmosphere between the players).
One of the most encouraging pieces of news was the return to training of a certain Dougie Freedman......please come back soon,we're all missing you!
I fear that Leeds may be a little soon, apart perhaps for a cameo appearance
but let's all hope tht he'll be there for Colchester.

yes we can all hope and hope some more and get annoyed and start to throw things around ...... or is that just me?

Originally thought that Dougie would have a try out in the reserves following his injury.
Having checked on the OS.........I rather hope that it's not the case.......our next 2ndXI fixture being on November 11th! Therefore, let's hope that we see him appear for 15 or 20 mins. on Tuesday evening. If that went well it could herald his return to the starting line up Saturday week against............now, who are we playing???

Is it just me that thinks playing Barnard when he hadn't trained and obviously wasn't 100% fit at Scunthorpe was a stupid and naive thing to do? I'd be surprised if we saw him against Leeds now and that's a big blow.

Sorry if it's something you already know, I have mentioned it on another thread, but...............Barney had an injection to relieve the discomfort and his next appearance seems to depend on how quickly the effect of that medication kicks in. However, after Tuesday evening, I imagine that Tilly would want to be absolutely sure that he is near 100% fit before risking him again.

Barney and Freedman will be in and out all season with injuries.. If Rev's Walker n co can fill the gaps then good..

barney/freedman need to play more than they dont. to rely on rev, walker and laurent to fill the gaps would be a concern and if for a long period would have a serious consequence on our season. none of those three have the goal scoring record to help sustain our position. laurent is still an unknown quantity and should be given a run in the side, he certainly has performed well for the reserves

Possibly the wrong thread for this, but I think with Revs, Walker & Laurent as back-up we have fantastic reserves for this level. Revs and Walker would walk into many first teams in this division - possibly Laurent too although I have yet to see enough of him to pass judgement.

Rather than just looking at the scoring charts and comparing the likes of Beckford & Lambert to walker & revs, they should look at how many goals the Leeds & BR first choice reserves have scored

I've not seen Laurent much but what I have seen has impressed me. Not just the goal.

We all have a good idea how Tilly thinks.......so he will probably start with Revs and Walker up front. However, on the odd occasion, he is capable of giving us a surprise...
.....i.e. starting with Revs and Laurent.......but there again I wouldn't put too much money on it!

Revs and Laurent, for me, would be max aerial threat. Sometimes that's what is needed!
