Tilson is working wonders........

This reads fine, echoing the praise of Tilly and the players, that has been given by virtually everyone on here.

It's just the sentence near the end which worries me a bit, the one that says, "More problematic periods could still soon occur due to Southend's current financial situation." :scared:

Perhaps we shall understand more by the end of the week???

A massive understatement if ever i read one, i don't think there is another manager in the football league, past or present who would have stuck to the job like Tilly & Brush have, they are saints in my eyes. UTB.

Legends!! They have the utmost respect of supporters up and down the country I have no doubts.

There's plenty Eddie Howe at Bournemouth for one and Mick Harford at Luton last season working with a 30 point deficit.

However I agree with the article and if there's a positive from the current financial difficulties it's shut up the Tilson out brigade on here who may grudgingly concede that Tilly may well know what he is doing.

Delighted that this spell has finally hushed the tilly knockers, I have and always will belive the sun shines out of his ar5e

i personally think tilly has had one of his best seasons. with the state of the finances, the size of the squad and lets be honest having a squad that isn't as good have been used to in recent years.

if we finish mid table this season i think that would be tillys best achievement as a manager.

C'mon - enough of this mid-table finish pessimism -

WE'RE GOIN' UP , WITH TILLY AND BRUSH :O

We will go up! A friend did a reading of the Runes pre-season which predicted great success for us after overcoming a huge financial obstacle. T & B -never a dull moment.

Everyone, bar one ;), is rightfully agreeing with the wonderful job that Tilly and the players are managing to do under difficult circumstances. No one has commented on the sentence that I found a bit worrying........"More problematic periods could still soon occur due to Southend's current financial situation."
Perhaps the recent crisis was so hurtful that no one wants to start thinking of another one just around the corner. Or else there is a desire to, at least, wait until the end of the week by which time Ron will have broadcast his blogs and the view for the future may be a little clearer.

I do believe that we are in far more serious trouble than has been let on, i don't think Ron will say anything until after the loan window has closed, and then no doubt he will try to blame others, or other reasons for not bringing in any players (except Morrison). We will i am sure go through yet another period of players not being paid and i feel we may almost have a mass exodus, the players and the management can only be expected to take so much. Sadly RM cannot/will not see that we are a FOOTBALL club and that the on field playing staff must come first. Sorry, i know it is more doom and gloom, but until Ron Martin DOES something instead of says something then i think matters will onl get worse. UTB.

Now this debt has been has been paid I think it will lift the weight off this club. Its no good being all pessimistic and predicting mass exodus when we don't know the full story. I agree RM needs to show some action but when he does it he will communicate it no doubt and people will then discredit what he says. The stadium won't be built by the end of the year and it takes longer than 1 week to sign players who we can afford and want to play for us. Unfortunately running a football club is not as clear cut as some people are led to believe!

I totally agree that running a football club is not easy, epecially in the present economic climate. I'm also generally behind Ron, with his vision for the future of our club, yet, along with many others, my confidence in him took a knock in the recent tax crisis. Whilst I understand that there may be sensitive issues which can't be discussed in public I do believe that, as supporters, we have the right to be given some basic information, particularly pertaining to our ability to field a full squad at the moment and how he sees this situation evolving during the next months.

Which hopefully we will see from this weeks blog.....agreed confidence in our well-styled chairman has taken a knock given the recent bad hair days at the club with the tax bill, but give him a chance and I'm sure he'll provide us with something.

What do you mean now that debt has been paid off? Has it not just come from one person to pay another? That £2m has not just been magicked up. It will surely at some point need to be re-paid by the club to Ron's companies and from them to whoever ultimately has lent it. And on what terms? Presumably not as good as the generous loans provided by the HMRC bank that the club has been using?

I don't think any weight has been lifted off the club. Maybe there is no imminent winding up order or prospects for administration as there was previously, but is the club now suddenly safe long-term? It's just like a loan shark saying they'll clear your existing debts - you still have to pay THEM back in the end, and at what rate?

Maybe when Ron explains in his blogs, all will become clearer where the money has actually come from and on what terms his companies and the club will have to pay it back.

I mean the initial tax man bill where the debt was immediate and through result of non-payment would have led to administration or indeed winding up. For sure the 2m is still due to someone somewhere but it will be on a longer term deal i would have assumed. Indeed we will still rack up interest (it may interest ypou to know that HMRC interest rates on late payment are not favourable either) and indeed it is waiting for rons blog which i stated in my initial post.
