Thursday 9th June: Middlesex v Essex at Lords T20

Any match at the home of cricket is special though i've never been to a T20 match there so really looking forward to this, its a 6:15 start so sadly not a floodlit match but tickets are on sale now and a large crowd is expected, so far my little crowd comprises BLUEBLOOD Junior, SUFCEssex, stickyboy and Canveyshrimper and i believe we are aiming for The Mound Stand for this one

Any other Zoners planning on attending?? £20 adults and a fiver for kids i believe

Lord's is only a short hop from my office; I think I may well head down for that one. Saw a Middlesex vs Essex T20 game at Lord's in (I think) 2009 and Essex got humped, so hoping for a change in fortunes.

Haven't got round to looking at the fixtures, but Essex at Lords is always the fixture I look for first.

Why the Mound Stand? The Upper Edrich (or Compton) is the most glorious viewing spot in cricket* and makes sitting on the fort at Galle or high up at the MCG seem like the cheap seats. High up behind the bowler's arm, under the media centre, looking out at the Lords pavilion - why an earth would you want to sit anywhere else?

*Disclaimer - I haven't experienced a game from the pool in Barbados.... yet.

We were aiming for the Mound to be closer to the bar of course !!!

...and as BLUEBLOOD has already stated that he's buying on the day I think this is very sensible.

Good point by YB I had the privilege of sitting in the upper Compton when Rob Key scored 200+ against the WIndies a few years ago.

Another vote for Upper Compton/Edrich, although I was lucky enough to watch our 2009 game there from the Pavilion which was a little bit special

I can't remember what stand it was but I did get to see Ian Bell get out for 199 against the Saffers there a few years back (along with MtS). A cracking days play that saw KP and Bell lump on a load of runs, a sudden flurry of wickets and then Broad come in and show his batting promise with about 70 odd before we declared.

That'd have been the 4th wicket stand.....

It appears tickets are just Ground Entry ones and then sit where you like which negates the problem of trying to buy seats together

5:00/5:30 in the bar* meet then??

* bar to be decided nearer the time

Good stuff. I shall do my best to be there.

** BUMP **

Does anyone else get the SUFC promo emails ?? the latest had a whole host of cricket offers including 6 for 4 (sounds like a West Indies test card) for this match, so basically a saving of £6/£7 per head

Any DEFINATE attenders want to pool our resourses to do this ??

Haven't seen the promo e-mail, but I'm definitely up for this one.

I'll also be at Whitgift school on Saturday - weather and the game going the distance allowing.

Looks like you'll be lucky for Saturday, weather is set fair, hope it's a win for Essex.

Having seen an email from BLUEBLOOD I think the promo offer is only for on line purchases.

I think SUFCEssex is going to one of the days down there, though i've a feeling its tomorrow

BLUEBLOOD, canvey, stickyboy, YB .. i will buy the tickets and you can pay me on the day if you want

Hey all,

I'll join you if you don't mind in the Mount Stand. Be good to meet some of you.

I work at Canary Wharf anyone else based here?

After a small case of crossed wires i have a spare ticket for this match, i took advantage of the 6/4 offer so its available for £15 against the gate price of £20
