has anyone noticed our in ablilty to throw the ball onto the pitch its always the same everyone stands still then gets the ball thrown at them and then they awkwardly pass it back to the throw on taker with it either going straight off of we lose possesion i know their are a few exceptions like herd

is it just me who has noticed this?

Did not notice it to be fair but we definatly do not make the most of HERDS throw

I've kind of noticed it, but then we're not very good at all at throw ins anyway, there's a distinct lack of urgency or movement - Herd's apart, although Friend also has a decent long throw, which we saw last weekend.

we seem to just freeze and i was a bit dissappointed with friend he didnt offer anything more than herd and he is only a loan we should however use long throws as much as possible

Herd's long throw isn't that long I don't see why everyone compares it to Delap's. Its the longest throw in our side, but against Leeds, their long throw expert had a lot more distance on his.

Its all about urgency and movement. Barnard is always coming over and looking to lay it off, but apart from him no one else seems to want it.

herds throw is nowhere near delaps but ihe is what 19 and the best at it we have but we should use it as a setpiece similar to a corner it might add something to our attack

I've noticed,hope that helps.

Our problem is that the full back always takes. Okay, Herd has a long throw but at times it just needs somewhere there to take a quick throw into space to put us on the attack. Look at the Norwich goal the other week, ball went out, player took it straight away, threw it into space, striker picks it up and scores, that was an equilaser or winner as well I think. I can bet we would have all stopped and waited for the full back to walk over and take it.

But you can't keep expecting him to launch it everytime. It will take it out of him. You have to mix it up a little bit. You can't keep going long, sometimes a nice simple throw into one of our midfielders to allow the game to flow is what is required.

Franny Laurent took one quick the other week, and it was a foul throw and got given the other way!

yes providing our midfielder doesnt volley it back to the person who took it before he has a chance to react, which seems to be common

But then thats all down to who the ball is played too.

Something Macca has down a couple of times its let the ball run across him in midfield and look to spread the play. Shame his passing is terrible though.

haha yea, he does that with passes as well

So did Macca at the weekend - and it was a foul throw by about a foot!! As soon as he got the ball everyone around me said 'its gonna be a foul throw'

Did he? Missed that, at least it proves that it's not always the full back taking them then!

It was late in the second half in the South/east corner. He obviously thinks he has a long throw!!! (Well it was a bit longer as he took it from so far onto the pitch!!!!!)

We have been unable to take a decent throw for over a year, I don't understand how we can be so poor at in. Even with Herd on, we never really look dangerous from it, because they all just stand there, very disappointing

I really don't think half a dozen long throws during the course of a match should cause a problem. It's all about technique anyway.

Its not just the long throws, its the constant running up and down and sometimes across to take them.
