Three grounds you really dont like going too and why?

DTS

The Business
Following on from a programme last night I watched on Sky about horrible away days I am looking to find everyones three most hated away grounds. Be it for sheer distance, intimidation factor, people etc etc.

Reasons please for your dislikes

* Grimsby - **** hole, Never win there and place stinks, locals are all morons.

* Hull - See Grimsby

* Brentford - Hate them with a passion, never get a result and it annoys me how long it takes to get home considering its bloody London.

Carlisle - Way to far!

MK Dons - Strangest place I have ever been, and never want to return (new stadium or not)

Tottenham - Similar to Brentford. Close to home but friggin ages to get back!

Shame you didn't do this yesterday Dave, would have been apt to commemorate the sad memories of Blundell Park 2 years to the day that inept to55er of a ref and their chav scum did for our automatic promotion hopes!

I would have said Ipswich, Carlisle & Cambridge but now having finally seen us win at all 3 I don't hate visiting them as much.

Never seen a good performance at Peterborough (although I like the atmosphere in the away-end). Darlo for our abject 0-4 performance (although that did clinch the Eastwood signing so it wasn't all bad). Brighton as it's a joke of a football ground (and they shafted us with a dodgy 93rd minute goal when I went)!

Upton Park - awful ground, awful area, awful people
Walkers Stadium - soulless
Carlisle's ground - nothing to recommend it - thugs, long journey, rubbish stadium

The 3 points and being called "Southern Animals" by a posh middle aged mother in a Volvo estate made it for me last time!

Think they've now reopened the terrace behind the goal for away fans as well for those who are making the pilgramage next season!

Carlisle - went there most years when we were in the basement last time around and its grim. We've won there once in thirty years, and it was the time I didn't go. For some reason the pitch has a blue tauplin around the edges - why? Its northern and there are no pubs near it, other than the rugby club.

Grimsby/Hull - both are grim even by northern standards. No decent boozers nearby either. Don't think I've ever enjoyed a game at either ground either.

Pretty much the entire championship - you can't tell the grounds apart as they are all soulless, identikit stadia (different colour scheme apart), stuck out in the middle of some non-descript industrial estate, miles from anywhere. Then to top things off, more often than not we lost.

There is a pub down the road, although it's more of a family-friendly pub/restaurant. Not one for the Good Pub Guide, in any case

True. But after that I spent over 8 hours in the coach with Barry Harris

:)

Ah, good point!
That would scar anyone!

YB, there is a decent boozer near Brunton Park it's less than 5 minutes away. Been in there pretty much every time I've been there. Plus it was almost 40 years between Southend victories there. 1964/65 to 2003/04!

Carlisle been 3 times don't want to go again. Agree with all that's been said about getting home from Brentford. Grimsby always a mare and never seen us win.

If we could go above 3 I agree with the West Spam comments as well although one year I would love to see us win there probably more than any other ground except Wembley.

I like Peterboro although first time I went we did win promotion.

Ben Lewis, Andy Harris, Neville Southall, Chris Perkins...

Can you blame me for trying to wipe away the memories?

Luton - ridiculous amount of legroom for anyone over 6ft & its a hole

Grimsby - the name says it all

Northampton - because its made of lego

Luton - horrid town, crumbling ground, cramped seats, and we never do well there.

Gillingham - it's like visiting a grim northern mining town which is currently on holiday in the South. The stadium is just plain weird.

Grimsby - the "Grim" in the title says it all. The worst away trip I've ever endured, bar none.

Matt

1> Chester. It's bloody terrible, miles down some industrial estate and the ground is some awful breeze-block 99p construction. They have no fans and it takes ages to get there.

2> Grimsby. Possibly the most backward, seething, trailer-trash locals in the country. Absolute Barclays bankers to a man. Plus I nearly got arrested for politely telling a van-load of coppers outside that they really should have been preventing an 87th minute pitch invasion inside. Except the language was more flowery. Worst away trip of all time.

3> Toss up between Franchise FC and Doncaster. Franchise because they shouldn't even be in the league in the first place, plus the area around the ground is the very definition of "soulless". Plus crap temporary away end so you can't get any singing going. Doncaster for having the second most inbred and moronic fans in the country. For the purposes of the vote, I will have to go for Doncaster.

Brentford, for the reasons previously stated

Barnet - it's a joke

Oxford - not only soulless, but 3 sided as well.

Donny might be a better trip next season with the new stadium, although I agree 100% about the town being a total dump and the fact some of its inhabitants are morons!
