The Shrimpers-online

Southend Shrimp

Youth Team
Hope the moderators don't mind this post, after all it is southend related

.

The Shrimpers-online is a brand new unofficial Southend site.  The site has so far been going for about a month, so a lot of work still needs to be done.  We are aiming to be at least the number 2 Shrimpers site (behind this one of course
wink.gif
), so please have a browse and let me know what you think of it so far.

PS, the site does not properly load using Mozilla browsers.

It's not bad. I honestly like the competition- we are after all supporters of the same team.

PS, I would say Official Site is probably number one (because of the time Dave can dedicate to it and the access he gets to players/managers. Oh, and his enthusiam). I'd like to think us and TLG are tied for number 2, Artful's site number 4 and Shrimpers.net number 5, at the moment.

However, the Southend site I most use is Robin Michel's database- a wealth of useful information.

It's all subjective, I guess, but SZ does get 1 million hits a month...

Our aim is to be the site most read by the club and other 3rd division fans. We're getting there- we know some players read it.

For a free board, that doesn't drain up my webspace, I thought it was quite a good board.  In time the advertising banner will go, but that will have to be paid for and I've just got over paying for the host. Thanks for the positive feedback, at least I know I'm heading in the right direction.

My site above a Rivals Net! nice one! i'd like to push you into competition but I just don't have the time and I do actually like this message board.....best kick my site up a gear or two beforethese young guns get busier!

Smithy~ domain names are quite cheap, I paid £10 for artfulshrimper.com for two years and I just "point" that to my free webspace, courtesy of Freeserve. I will add your website to my links banner thing, keep it up ...excellent work!

Out of interest Smithy where did you order yours from?

I'm paying well over the odds for Shrimpers.net by the looks of things.

You don't want to know how much we're paying for SZ...

Napster, I don't know how much webspace you have, but going by this site, quite a lot. The host I'm useing is Fasthosts and it's only £8.99 for 1Gb of webspace, but you probably use a lot more than that.

Bandwidth is the problem, there's some right crummy deals about. Its why i've stayed on the higher rate freeserve deal as there's no bandwidth as opposed to the new webspace which has 20Mb limit over 24 hours, then they simply close it down, it only needs 80 "high res" graphics and that's it. Or a few dozen pages accessed by a few dozen people, a couple of high end flash games and its goodnight after ten minutes.
