The seasons just begun... and there is so much pessimism on this board it is unbelievable, with so much talk about player confidence - I think its about time that I tried to install some confidence, regardless of how little, back into the people of this board.

The seasons just begun... and so don't get too hung up just yet and give the team time to gel, which they will do and there is no doubt in my mind of that - most people on the board have experienced a new job or task - you need time to get into that and give the players the time to do just that.

The seasons just begun... and so don't worry about the league table because in my view the league table starts forming after halloween and the time when you should really dig deep into is after New Year.

The seasons just begun... and so believe in yourself that we will get through the rough patches in the season together.

The seasons just begun... and the Blue Voice will continue to grow stronger this year along with everything else. The atmosphere will rise, the level of football will rise and our league position WILL RISE.

Please stop the pessimism and remember this...

It's like watching a flock of headless chickens round here lately. I'm quite happy that we got 4 points from 3 games. Yes, we could have played better at Brighton, but we aren't going to win every game, and as we've learned (or should have done by now), getting on the players backs doesn't help things.

Very true, and if somebody had offered me four points out of three games I would have taken it. We all just need to take a step back and put everything that is going on into our perspective.

and Southend United WILL GAIN PROMOTION (and yes, you can hold me to that)

...right up to here. There are bigger, stronger sides than us in this division and we need to be mature enough to accept that. The stadium and our attempts to integrate quality young players are our effort to build a long term remedy to that problem. It really doesn't matter to me if we only consolidate this year - we're getting so much right at long last that I've never felt better about the future.​

But agree with most that has been said. 3 games in and 4 points on the board. From what i have heard a good performance against Brighton. We have a very young team and a few on the new lads are just starting out and getting used to playing with the lads. Give them time. Once we gel more the performances will improve even more and points will start stacking up. I personally believe we have a better all round team than last year. Lets see how we stand come Xmas - that is all ways the time of season that you really start to get a feel how your season is heading.

Think it's what we do in this country, especially with sport. Glass half empty mentality. The amount of negativity coming from some about 2012 is unbelievable. Okay there is a lot of hype about the Olympics but all that's needed is a bit of perspective. Also think people are more likely to post if they want to moan than if they're happy.

I was actually surprised how positive it was. It's not a bad start and not a good start. The line saying you'd have taken it at the start of the season is crazy talk, though - we've played two good teams at home and a poor team away. Reasonable expectation would be 5 or 6 and barring a late goal and an iffy sending off, we'd have at least that.

We can be positive about what we can still achieve but the lack of chances suggests we're not going to be getting points easily this year.

I always assumed this related to being down on casino chips since starting. Not sure if it works in that context but I could be wrong!

Very much so, but just like consumer confidence rises andd falls in stocks and shares so does the fans' confidence in sport teams - its a part of life we must get use to.
