Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
This last 2 weeks have been, well, lets say testing, even for a long standing Blues fan of 40 years like myself.

The last few days in particular has seen fan turn against fan... fans turn against club... fans turn against player and both Tilly and Barrett felt the need (and rightly so) to come out publically and criticise the fans for doing so.

The Orient debacle made many (me included) feel absolutely disgusted at one section of the crowd.

But now, with Tilly and Adams comments in the media, maybe certain people will stop and think next time.

We have had J meet with Ron and a lot of issues have been aired... maybe they haven't all been put to bed but for now the seas are calmer.

So now, as fans, can we do what we do best, and that is support the team. Leave the players to play, the management to manage and Ron to get us our new ground.

At the moment the team is floudering, like a drowning man, trying to keep it's head above water. This last week has seen some fans metaphorically push that mans head underwater. However, we need to pull him out - and the only way we can do that is to get right behind the team whilst they are playing.

I realise I may be preaching to the converted, but we need some sort of rallying cry to calm the restless natives. There must be people on here who know the lads in the West who were singing those anti club chants. Perhaps a word in their shell-like prior to the next home game? We need a cooling off period where no matter what happens on the pitch we have to bite our collective lips off it so the players can work themselves out of trouble.

In the meantime, we have Carlisle away tomorrow... and what an absolute blessing. The furthest away game with probbaly the smallest following... and those that go will be the diehards. Mildenhall needs a blinder.

And won't it be just absolutely typical of this club for us to go and win?

COME ON!

BLUE ARMY!

An excellent post agree with everything you said. You are quite right about the supporters that will go to carlisle and you know i think a result tomorrow is on the cards

I hope there's a bit of fight now in the players - sick of two miserable performances and some unwarranted barracking. With Doogie hopefully starting I reckon we can snatch it.

UTB!

This hope has been expressed in several threads over the last couple of days, but going by last season's game it is a faint hope. The fact is that the instigators of most of the negative anti-Hunt, Paynter, Harrold, Gower, and now Mildenhall chants are not spotty yoofs but middle age men who regard themselves as the "die-hard loyal" supporters of the club.

They were very much in evidence at Carlisle last season, with such innovative gems as "You can stick your ****ing shrimperzone up your arse", and the infamous Glasgow Shrimper chant. In fact the only common factor about the chanting from this group was that, AFAICR, they never once started a chant getting behind the team.

I am going to Carlisle tomorrow, but I am not looking forward to it. Not because I think the team might lose - that's football, but because I fear that the same group will be there and the same nonsense will ensue.

Why on earth do they bother to travel 700 miles there and back soley to abuse the team and other supporters.I travel to support my team no matter what, i may not like what i see on the pitch sometimes but i save my rants till i get home

an excellent post and i liked the way you worked a drowning man into it! but he'll be alright come the end of the season.

we might not be expecting a win tomorrow but we could do with a good performance and not to concede so many goals.

well if the spotty oiks start anti charts tomorrow...we need to be prepared to out chant them.....SOUTHEND CHA CHA CHA SOUTHEND

I will probably get shot down in flames for this, and almost certainly lose some of my Rep, but isn't this all a bit self righteous?

I have no problem with everyone pulling together and getting behind the team as one, but you have effectively used this post as a way of putting down your fellow supporters - something which you was at pains to point out in the opening to this thread has been happening over the last few days.

The post is more about ciriticising fans for daring to disapprove of what they see, and less about trying to rally support for the boys. If it had merely been about getting behind the team on Saturday, then great, but to use it as a stick to beat other fans with at the same time is a bit hypocritical.

This whole thing about it being good that we're playing away at Carlisle because it's our furthest trip, therefore only the diehards will do it, it quite frankly, ridiculous. Do you think then that if we start conceding goals left, right and centre that because only the 'diehards' are there, there will be no moaning, booing or disgruntled chanting? That is incredibly presumptuous to assume that the people moaning against Orient won't be at Carlisle.

Having been to Carlisle 3 times myself, including last season, there was indeed fans there when I was moaning and booing when we were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat.

I also find it interesting that, despite the fact you point out we are floundering like a drowning man, you choose to direct your annoyance at the moaning fans rather than the people who put us into this position in the first place. Just why are we floundering when only 3 months ago, we were on the verge of making it back to the Championship.

Don't get me wrong - I am ALL for getting behind the team and giving them all the encouragement I can to do well, and I enjoy seeing those kind of uplifting posts on here just before we're due to play - almost like a war cry, but it's your method of going about it I take exception to, as opposed to the actual principle.

As I say, I am sure I will get murdered for this post, but I felt like I needed to get it off my chest.

Up the Blues!!

The season always starts here for the Blues... 3 weeks in! If we started on the 1st game of the season, we would have got auto promotion last season!

Yes mate, totally self righteous. What other possible way can my post be interpreted?

:stunned:

The Carlisle point is that there will be comparitively fewer fans up there, and because we aren't expected to win (based on current form) there won't be the same amount of pressure on Mildenhall as if, say, this was Colchester at home.

I'm hopeful the "diehards", whilst they may moan, won't chant "USA" or call for Flahavan. But I haven't ever been there so will bow to your greater knowledge of the travelling support.

But I was only trying to take things forward WITHOUT taking issue with the people who put us in a poor position, as you put it. That's what happened earlier in the week, hasn't it? Which is why this week has seen the events it has.

Jeez... first time I've ever seen someone take exception to a positive post... who's self righteous?

I'n not taking exception to your positivity - just the way in which you worded it.

I made my points, and I stand by them. I'm not being self righteous at all, I am merely pointing out that, IMO, if you want to write a post being positive, and geeing everybody up, it could have been done without the need to make disga t fellow fans, which is what you did.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was precisely the kind of thing you was trying to highlight as what happened earlier in the week?

Incidentally, I would be AMAZED if none of the fans chanting 'Daryl Flahavan; the other night was not, by your own definition, a die hard. If they didn't care, maybe they wouldn't chant anything.
