The run in, Southend, Tranmere, Scunthorpe

Examining the run in, for the fight for the last play off spot, it could now definitely happen. Tranmere have to travel to Leeds, and play Scunthorpe on the last day. Scunthorpe have MK Dons, Leicester and Tranmere, and have 2 more games extra to play.

Scunny are playing all the teams we are apart from Oldham.

Bit optimisitc with the predictions I think there but hey you never know!

I think we'll need to win all our remaining games to stand a chance. Scunthorpe need just 12 from a possible 21 points to pip us to 6th. I can't see them picking up just 9 points in the run in.

Scunny's confidence must have taken bit of a denting today after losing to Luton!

I think the fact Scunny and Tranny play each other on the last day severely hinders our chances too. Think of it like this, one of the 2 teams we need to drop points, will gain a point or 3 in this match...

On the other hand, a draw in that game could be very good. We can also guarantee that at least one of those teams is going to drop points.

What happened to our form once we lost the LDV Final the first time, did we go tits up od okay.

Might be an indication what will happen to Scunny!!

IIRC we were shocking after the 2nd final....dropped out of the top 3 and into the play offs on the last day of the season

The point as I see it is, that Scunny only need to improve on one of their results, from a loss to a draw or a draw to a win and they've got the spot.

Up until the 2nd final we had been on a long undefeated run, and looked like we would get automatic promotion. We notably lost at home to Borient and had to settle for the play offs. The rest as they say is history.

Aside from being shagged out after a demoralising extra time defeat v the Football League's bottom team, Scunny also had their centre half stretchered off. I expect them to suffer enough from this re results to let us in if we can keep on winning.

Think you are being a bit optimistic with us gettin 4 wins. What makes you think we can win at Northampton but Scunny lose there? Our only hope is if Hooper gets injured. Scunny and Tranmere could equally look at our run in and say MK Dons and Leicester, bloody tough games, Oldham away never easy and Cheltenham are never easy for us.

May I just add, should the unlikely happen and we get into the playoffs, we'll still have to win both those games to get into the CCC.

We've got to break a hoodoo this week to keep the pressure on as M.K. Dons seem to be somewhat of a 'bogey team' to us. Also had Leicester sown up the league when we play them we could have possibly had an easier game against them. As it stands there is a probable chance that they may need to win this game to clinch promotion (subject to Millwalls results over easter.) which will give us a tougher game but will probably be a full house and a great atmosphere. I dont agree that because Cheltenham will already be relegated by the time we play them will give us an easy game. Remember Port Vale last season?.

I think we know we have to win every game and still rely on Scunthorpe to slip up. If this came off it would be an unbelievable result - especially since we've had a purple patch of form already. I say lets go for it!

I keep saying, as long as we do all we can i.e. winning, then we will have done the best we can. Our destiny is in the hands of others if we keep doing exactly that.

We just need to keep winning.. If Scunthorpe fail to beat Luton, then they could easily fail on saturday against Huddersfield.

Trouble is we aint going to win all 5 games left and thats the problem !
We might easily get 12 points, but I would be very surprised if it is enough

Will be fun finding out though

Working in Toulouse all weekend, so didn't get back home until 9pm on Saturday evening. Did my normal trick of scrolling down (or up) the livetext and was obviosly delighted with the result.
The importance of this win is that it keeps us in the chase, no matter how forlorn our chances would appear to be. It gives a great edge to the MKD game on Friday and it's good that we are not there just as the also rans. In fact, if we can keep the dream alive until Leicester.................that will certainly make for a great afternoon and a great atmosphere.

Looks straightforward to me - we will clinch place in play-offs at Oldham
But will Dervite and Robinson be eligible?
