The Mens' World Cup 2022 Sweepstake Draw (Runners & Riders!)

The 20th November sees the start of the 22nd Football World Cup, staged in Qatar and ironically occurring in 2022.

Once again ShrimperZone has organised a World Cup Sweepstake and 32 Zoners have pledged £10 each to participate. A first prize of £150 will go to the winner of the competition and £50 to the runner up. The balance of funds will go towards the Zone running costs.

Today is the first opportunity for the 32 competitors to see which team they have been drawn with. As with all football sweepstakes you never really know what will happen and World Cup shock results are commonplace so please don’t feel down if you haven’t pulled the team you hoped for.

The chances of them hosting the tournament were slim to none, so I wouldn’t rule them out of winning the entire thing. Pur€ly on m€rit of course.

I’ve drawn Belgium. Not bad. Think I’ll celebrate with some chocolate and a can of Stella on the way to Barnet tonight.

I have seen Denmark, in the flesh, in a competitive match, when they played Croatia at Hillsborough, at Euro96. They were the reigning European champs and Croatia were a new nation after the falling apart of Yugoslavia. Schmeichel the Great was in goal.
And they got thumped 3 nil.
Not looking good.
