the loan system

Rayleigh boy

Director⭐
i personally hate it -

but it seems to be major factor in a clubs success - last seasom Mulgrew and Walker played a major part in the team but were loanees -

this year we have to keep budget available for transfers and for loanees - some of whom are very expensive -

this changes the nature of team/squad building quite radically - with a different set of choices facing managers -

the truth is that we might be getting our best players in on laon -

by the way = when does the transfer window close and when does the loan window iopen and close ?

I think it's about a week after the transfer window closes, but probably more. Someone like Mick will know for sure.

Maybe its part of the plan to loan a load of players to save money? Does seem like we are on a tight budget. We have made money from some dealings recently and haven't seen much come in of recent. Colchester spend 400,000 on Gillespie when will we spend that sort of money on a player?

I think -

Transfer Window

1st July - 31st August
1st Jan - 31st Jan

Loan Window

1st July - Mid Nov
1st Jan - Mid April

Spending large sums of money doesn't necessarily mean that it will turn out to be a worthwhile signing.

I couldn't care less how much we spent as long as the players coming in were of sufficient quality

Which wont be this season. The cuboard is bare i think, could be wrong hope im wrong, but all the signs seem to be pointing towards,Ron having no cash for new players.

didnt he say, once Fossets farm was ratified, money would be released for transfers.

I think he said that some year and a half ago, perhaps with the credit crunch borrowing money is far more expensive and difficult to obtain and Ron is trying to keep outlay as low as possible to help finance FF.

I'd rather we didnt. I prefer signing Scannell for 5k, McCormack for 30k, Barnard for 35k and Bailey for 175k*.

* - Figures at the best of my knowledge.

If we signed a 400k player, I'd want a superstar and instant promotion.

Unfortunately we won't see that much money going on players till the new stadium is nearly finished. People seem to be underestimating how much money RM and the club have put into planning for the stadium. With all the hitches and all the conditions, plus the money that went into putting the plans together and pushing them through...I'm not surprised that we're not buying players for much money. Think about it.

As much as I hate to say it, I really do think that this'll be a season of consolidation. I expect to see the club really pushing to open up the first season in the new stadium in the CCC, and consolidating this season because it costs so little.

We already have signed players of that amount in the past when transfers were well below the inflated rate they are today.

Gary Poole 400k ?
Mike Marsh 500k

Thats when we had neither the fan base nor the financial support from sponsorship and tv rights etc and was the reason we fell like a stone and almost became extinct.

Colchester have sold a lot of players for a lot of cash and have started to reinvest that cash. They have also i might point out just sold Lisbie to Ipswich for 500k.

I might be right in saying that halford and Lua Lua also went for a combined fee around 5 million amongst plenty of others that have been sold for decent amounts of cash. They have only in the last two seasons spent any of that cash.

Also Col U staying in the CCC that extra season was a big bonus to them. The way the parachute payments work is that if a club returns to the PL at the first attempt, the money goes back into the pot for the remaing CCC teams. As 2 clubs did it in 06/07, the TV money was £3-4m in 07/08, which was quite a bit more than we got in our relegation season.
