At the end of last week I ordered a DVD for my dad and a CD for my Mum for Christmas, as a hard-up student it was the best I could do... I've used amazon a lot and always been happy with their service. Today I got home to find the packet on the doorstep... "excellent" i thought, but on closer inspection the package had already been opened.. and my dads DVD has been nicked but the CD (classical album 2007 incidently!) had been left... thieving postman w&nker!

After trying to ring amazon on their internet phone system which didnt work as all i got was a load of distortion.. I've sent an email. The royal mail site isn't any help as it seems that all claims must be done by the poster,

As a hard up student you can understand my extreme annoyance that someone has done this.. Before i get abuse from postmen on this site i'll echo that ive never had anything go wrong before and amazon have always been good as well... but i don't think this is particularly uncommon and really ****es me off as its my dads' present

has anyone had anything like this happen? especially with amazon as they don't seem to have anything on their site about stolen items

I was thinking of waiting for the postman tomorrow as i have a day off but that would probably do more harm than good.

Probably weren't the posty, more likely some agency pillock in the sorting office.
Get down the post office and get a claim form for lost or damaged parcels, send them the packaging, invoices etc and they'll more than likely pay out.
Don't expect to get weighed out before crimbo though, you'll be looking at nearer February.

Perhaps it wasn't the postman.....

Perhaps someone saw the package on the doorstep and decided to take a look.

Mind you, they would probably have pinched the whole parcel rather than open it in situ and examine the contents.

I got classical album 2007, as soon as the version of "Everything i do" came on, i knew this would end up up on the back shelf with the Ronco appliances and sandwich toasters etc.

A lucky escape !

PS it's cheaper on tescos online~ jersey branch.

cheers for the replies.. its all good, amazon replied first thing this morning saying to order the dvd again and then emailed again to confirm that the refund has gone through. Will check my account tomorrow. I bet amazon has had loads of this problems before xmas so seem pretty happy to get it sorted quick

like i said im not blaming the postman, but he did stick an opened packet through my door (there is no way he couldn't have noticed), and therefore is implicated in anything fishy... if he put a note through saying that this was how he received the package and he will mention it back at th e depot or whatever then that would have been great. Instead he just stuck it through and makes me suspect that he is up to something

oh well its all sorted now (i hope), and i can leave the baseball bat alone and his kneecaps will remain intact!
