The Honesty Thread

Come on hand on heart , without the love of SUFC blinkering your view , what is honestly going wrong at our club these past 6 weeks , i don't believe you can blame the fans on this one , how are we gonna get out of this habit of conceading the most softest goals and seeminly giving up when the going gets tough.

I have lost count in the past 3 seasons how many times we have let in goals from crosses , from calamity defending and from any bit of movement in and around the box.

My thought is that we have lost every player bar one that stood up strong agaisnt Man U and that won us the league 1 title , its a new look team and it looks fairly weak to me . We have no heart or no a£sehole about us and certainly no flair. Add to this our poor Centre halfs and a iffy GK and it is a recipe for disaster . We had a chance to fix it in the transfer window and we blew it , unfortunatly the buck has to stop with the guys in charge of this team . IT NEEDS SORTING.

We lack experianced defenders and we haven't brought in any decent replacements for Gower and Bailey. When Macca comes back from injury we should start doing better I think.

We've lost very good players and replaced them with very average players...but with no money to spend, what do people expect?

As for Macca, I can't see him making a major difference to the side that many people anticipate. Last year he was brilliant for us, but he was playing alongside Gower & Bailey. This year, playing with the current crop won't bring the best out of him...I can see him getting frustrated and taking it out on the nearest opposition player.

1)the fact that we have so many players on loan for a month.. the players in from loan look good players.. takes time for them to gel and if we do find a good balance then they leave.. yes get players in for long term loans .. but months loan are pretty much pointless because in a months time they'll all have gone!

2) the relationship with mildenhall and defense is shocking and by that i mean no confidence, no communication

3) we have no battlers at the moment and as a team have no height.. the amount of headers with dont win is ridiculous!

I can think of at least 5 clubs who a few seasons ago where doing well and then sold their best players and replaced them with inferior players ........can any one see a trend in these teams

Luton
Bradford
Millwall
Brentford
Port vale

Also i bet at the time all their fans thought they were too good to go down as the years previous they had done well under that current manager.

We have no proper competition for any single place across our back four at the moment and sadly I think some players are becoming complacent/have off days with no possibility of us realistically making any changes. I don't mean to single him out but I honestly have no idea what kind of a player Sankofa is meant to be and I'm not sure he or Tilson do either. Seems like a "utility" man to me but he is not the answer to our centre back worries. Talking of which, Barrett is not a left back and without Harding, Borient had free reign to attack down that side with all of their goals coming from that area.

As for the midfield, I honestly thought we looked pretty good for the first 20 minutes or so and Sawyer may just be that man we need to fill Bailey's role this season. Hopefully we can get him on a longer deal as I think he's another real prospect. Kanu was also quite lively tonight but the midfield as a whole still has a way to go. Ball retention would be a good place to start!

Everyone involved in football will tell you how important pre-season is. It's where you get fit and you get your new players gelling with the old ones. Of course, most of our new players arrived at the very end of pre-season, so that jelling process never happened. Everyone was thrown straight in at the deep end and expected to perform. It doesn't work like that.

The loss of Bailey - which was totally avoidable - was a massive blow. If RM hadn't tried to play hard ball, he'd still be here with 2 years to go on a contract. You can't odd McCormack being injured, but effectively we've lost our engine room.

If my maths is right, we fielded four loan players tonight and had another inelligible to play. You can't hope to build a team on borrowed players.

Now whilst there may be very good reasons for all this conspiring against us, it is in my view the reason we look like a team that isn't ready for competitive football and looks short on confidence. The most frightening is that at times we look like a Dick Bate side.

I've said elsewhere that I think we've a long, hard season ahead of us and I've seen nothing to dispell that.

i think you mean lack of experienced midfielders. our centre back pairing have probably made over 600 apperances in there career between them, but over the last 2 seasons have not played like that have that much experience.

Correct my friend , just hope that some of the fans being complacent thinking we'll never flirt with relegation realise that if our defending doesn't get sorted out and we get some winners in our team then we could well find ourself down the bottom 7 or 8 and with our lack of confidence and too many youngsters who may not know how to dig thereselves out of a dog fight this could be a reality.

We are not too good to go down .

we are in a very very poor position with this unit of individuals and out casts, reminds me of a Alvin Martin or Peter Taylor team clueless inept and gutless. Know doubt about it we will go down if we continue the way we have started, its just a shame the game after the transfer window we are talking like this we had the chance to sort our clear short fallings, but allas with all the promises from our chairman nothing, I have always stood firm with my beliefs, and the usal rose tinted brigaid think they are better supporters than me because of my views but I love and adore my club like the rest of you, how ever you choose to show your support and I stand by what I say we are in real trouble and a very very realistic chance of turning back to the dark days with the blink of an Eye, I mean come on who really believe's we are getting this stadium, I really really dont think it will happen and I fear the worst, yes it might happen in 6,7 or 8 years but I dont think there will be a football club that we know and love or recognise playing there, and I fear for us I really do. tonight was pathetic, just a pathetic showing form quite frankly a load of old ss****, but what would you expect a team of mersenaries and yestherday men, I mean Betsy he's not fit to lace gowers boats, or tommy blacks for that matter, some one told me grant was playing, thats right the super star just like moussa and scannell but unfortunately I must have missed him. I dont buy properganda or the local press speial that we are being fed, I would start worrying because it aint gonna get better no time soon, and there will be no transfers to come in and help us, I always feel loan signings are good and maybe abit of a luxary if you are doing ok or need a boost in a position, but the fek me it defies belief we had two or 3 on there today all poor and now we need more how many more 5 6 7 ? its just a fecking joke

Its a shame you feel like that fella , i have never delved into the FF saga so can't comment , but i am hearing more and more folk saying the same thing .

As for our team at the moment , its gonna take at least 4 or 5 good wins under our belt to get the confidence back , its not gonna happen on saturday so we could see ourself rock bottom by sat night , then that will test what we are made of.

I can also think of a trend about clubs that spent beyond their means.... can anyone see a trend in these teams:

Luton (also in your example)
Rotherham
Rotherham (again!)
Bournemouth
Leeds

Duncan,as supporters we have to start screaming our support from the rafters.
I can remember going nuts at every player in our effort to avoid dropping into the conference when Tilly got the caretaker's job.Screaming encouragement from the stands at every pass from each of our players, people around me probably thought i was nuts!!

I don't like losing.I don't like any referee.I hate every opposing player.I feel the need to goad every opposing manager and chairman.I really am old enough to think twice on my actions, but Southend's my team and that's the way i've been brought up with football!

As for provoking one of my own players...ferk off! That's what the other side's fans do aint it??
