Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
Due to a last minute change of plan I was able to get to Leicester today... but the match report is already being done by someone else so I don't want to steal their thunder.

However, just a few thoughts.

Hammell, Maher and Guttridge (even though he missed a sitter) were all absolutely superb today.

Clarke looks good on the ball but seems to misjudge quite a bit.

Flavs, Barrett, Gower, Cole, Lawson, Prior and Freddy were all decent enough.

Francis - very disappointed in his defensive game today although he was excellent coming forward and he did do some things very well.

Paynter - obviously a "professional big bloke" but we don't really play that way so I didn't see anything he could bring to the party. Complained a lot to the ref.

JCR - A lot of his game he does so well and his work rate is terrific. Unfortunately, the final ball, whether short or long, is never quite good enough and despite beating players he can never get past them.

The ref - I thought he was excellent with the exception of the odd decision, most notably one occasion in each half where he failed to play advantage.

Our fans - for the most part, sang up well, good support. But we do have some morons. One bloke sat behind me and constantly (and I mean constantly) whinged about "how lazy that ******* Eastwood is", "what the f%&k is Tilson doing" and "Why don't you get lost Paynter you useless lump". Or words to that effect - I'm sure you get the picture.

Incidentally, we met up with my mates work colleague who is a Leicester seaso and went to a bar close to the ground called "Half Time Orange". From the Leicester perspective, he thought we were a good tidy side who would hold our own comfortably and tried to play nice football. He said we bossed the game for the first 30 minutes and singled out Guttridge as a special player who absolutely ran the midfield.

Overall - Leicester did a professional job on us but we didn't deserve to lose. Having said that, we failed to get a shot on target and they also hit the bar.

Verdict - Must try harder to stop losing on the road. A draw would probably have been a fair result.

The Walker Stadium - modern, clean, good facilities, great view, and absolutely no atmosphere.

Leiceister the place - we could not believe that there were NO roadsigns for the football ground (or the rugby, either).

Good summary, as always, FBM.

JCR continues to dissappoint me. Can't fault his workrate or commitment but as for deliverying a decent quality ball he's been very poor. Struggling to think of a single goal he's created in his 20+ games with us wheres he's gifted the opposition 3 goals with basic errors in that time (in all 3 cases he fannyed around and lost the ball in the last third when a big hoof was called for).

The (admittedly very few) moronic fans seem to be a carry over from the end of last season. Hopefully they're enthusiasm for away games will soon fall. Despite us having only 300-400 at Bournemouth, I must say the support and atmosphere was a lot better. Helped by the absence of these idiots coupled with unallocated seating.

Agreed that the Walkers Stadium had a poor atmosphere. I think the 10+ yard gap between the pitch and the stands was the major cause. I hope the stands are a lot closer to the pitch at Fossetts Farm.

yeah i think that gap doesnt help. been to the walkers stadium quite a few times and it doesnt get much louder than that really, in fact the most electric game was our uni's varsity game against de montfort. 5,000 people and it was much much louder than saturday

i love their chant of "your support is rubbish", to which we replied "theres no one there, theres no one there" and pointed to every part of their underfilled stadium!
