These have been sent for formatting and no doubt will be up on the front page soon

As ever, an accurate account of the game.

My only gripe would be giving Maher 7 out of 10. I thought he was by far the best player on the pitch and should have been awarded MOM.

I don't know whether Niall Quinn or Andy Townsend (who was present and reporting for ITV's Championship) have any sway with Staunton but they must have been suitably impressed. I would love Maher to get a call up to the Republic's squad. He certainly deserves it.

I guess it all depends on the competition for his position (who plays centre mid for them these days?)...

Christopher Brunt, Thommy Doherty (although he has told Sanchez he doesn't want to play for the national squad but wants to concentrate on his club football) Keith Gillespie, Damien Johnson, Grant McCann, Jeff Whitely and Philip Mulryne.

Could be a while before we see him pull on the NI shirt unfortunately.

This was the most recent squad for their 4-0 defeat to the Dutch:

Shay Given, Paddy Kenny, Wayne Henderson, Andy O'Brien, Richard Dunne, John O'Shea, Ian Harte, Steve Finnan, Stephen Carr, Stephen Kelly, Liam Miller, Steven Reid, Graham Kavanagh, Kevin Kilbane, Alan O'Brien, Aiden McGeady, Terry Dixon, Damien Duff, Kevin Doyle, Clinton Morrison, Alan Lee, Stephen Elliott, Robbie Keane.

I do believe Kev would hold his own with most of these faces.

Matt Holland, Kevin Kilbain, Stephen Reid, Colin Healey, Rory DeLap, Alan Quinn, Steven Mc Phail, Liam Miller, Andy Reid, Grahman Barret and Liam lawrence.

There, thats better
