The Eastwood thing

Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
From The pink un, the Norwich paper.

"Canary chief executive Neil Doncaster today gave the clearest indication yet that the club were poised to splash the Ash cash - and promised to reveal all once the transfer window slammed shut."

This would indicate that whoever they are splashing the cash for won't happen until the end of the season - but maybe with a loan deal or some sort of pre-contract agreement. For instance - Freddy may well be off to Carrow Road at the end of the season for an agreed fee on a permanent deal with a loan being taken for the rest of this season.

I must admit, with all the money being splashed about for lower league strikers, surely we have to be looking at £500K plus for Freddy? I mean with Holt and Fallon commanding the fees that they did...

Don't you start.

Freddy is going nowhere, so we don't need to start thinking about ifs and buts about him!

Can I appeal to the likes of Watermill Wino ,who clearly has the inside contacts with Freddy, to confirm if any of these rumours are remotely true about our one real star cum matchwinner?

I would be really surprised if Freddy left before the end of this season, bearing in mind we haven't as yet signed another striker. Selling him now would make no sense and would cripple our promotion aspirations.
If we won promotion this season I don't believe he would be interested in going, unless of course the carrot Norwich (or any other club) offer Southend or Freddy in terms of fees/wages is too good to turn down.
If we lost out on Championship footy, I would think it more than likely he would leave us.
I'm confident he's going to be a Southend player until the end of the season at least.

I have heard a rumour that Norwich have or are going to enquire about Eastwood with a fee between 1 million and 1.25 million being on offer

There is more chance of Tilly re-signing Dreeeew and the Cat than of Freddy moving on to pastures new before the end of the season.  Believe me.

Its stupid to think if we let our match winner on loans till end of season to a midtable team of Championship - anyone who suggest that will get shot for this - even ManU come with a 1million for Freddy still get turned down by Ron Martin so an £500,000 is an joke compared to what Ron Martin want for Freddy. If Vic Jobson was still as Chairman, we would fear the worst.

how many times does this have to be brought up. grays have a 40% seel on clause on him. if we sell for say 500k that would mean grays get 200k and us 300k. eastwood is better than tyson, holt, fallon and mcleod. reallistically we need to get at least 2 million for eastwood. it sounds a lot, but if we sold at that price we would only get 1.2 million if with the pottential loss of promotion if he did go, can we take the chance

Ron & Tilly have both denied that Grays have any sort of sell-on clause for Eastwood.
