I've got to say I've been quietly impressed by the partnership these two are building up at the back.

Instead they probably complement each other better than the Cresswell-Phillips pairing.

I feared the worse when Phillips went down injured, but the way these two have played we've hardly missed a beat and our defensive record is very respectable considering our midfield. Oh for a Nicky Bailey sitting in front of that defence.

Agree with that YB, Prosser has performed admirably and I think Phillips will have a fight on his hands to get his place back. It is undoubtedly midfield where we have a problem and personally, I'd like to see Woodyard given a go in the middle.

Phillips will walk straight back in when fit IMO but do agree that Prosser has once again defied his critics.

Agree, deservedly POTY last season and gives us much more of an attacking threat (like Cresswell) - Prosser has done fairly well in his absence though.

We DESPERATELY need a Kalala who can pass, but until the embargo is lifted we'll continue to ship goals and lost points.....

Was thinking this yesterday, Prosser has been very good but I think it has helped him having such a competent & assured player along side him in Cresswell.

It would be harsh on Prosser if Phillips went straight back into the side, but you pick your best team & Phillips is the better CB. Not sure about him at LB either, for me he's a better CB than LB & tbh I've been reasonably impressed with Barker at LB.

Whilst they have done well as a pairing so far, I feel more comfortable with Phillips and Cresswell. I'd certainly have Phillips straight in once he's fit again.

I must be missing something then, Phillips hasn't filled me with a great deal of confidence what I've seen this season. He's looked distinctly suspect at times.

It matters not who is at the back what does worry me is with no midfield we seem content to pump aimless balls down the center to nobody with any height .Brit does his level best to hold up play but with no out ball he has nothing to back him up .And as for Smith god knows why he starts ahead of young Bentley he doesnt inspire eithier defender or center back who ever they are .

yeh this is exactly what i was thinking before he got injured, has not looked like the same player as last season so far but maybe that could of been a injury he has been carrying that has upset the odd performance, he will get back to his normal self soon tho i hope.

Never been a fan of prosser as i think he lacks the skill and certainly the brain to be anything other than a mediocre league 2 player, but he has been quite solid of late.

My main gripe with him is his descision making which at times is awful. His passing is always long , but he has of late started going short.

Very decent in the air though.

All of that aside when phillips is fit then he should play.

Have you wondered why that is? Mainly when he plays LB he has no option to him except to go long. At CB he has the short ball option most of the time and his distribution then is good.

yeh i think thats where we need another natural centre midfielder to come and get the ball short as timlin seems to be the only short option sometimes, thats where we miss grant sometimes.

Its far more likely he isnt being told to "play direct passes into nowhere" anymore.

He has done well since coming in, still rather Phillips which is harsh on Prosser because Barker is a better option at left back.

our lack of clean sheets would suggest that maybe there not the dream team some are making out

You defend as a team and yesterday we allowed Barnet straight through the midfield all game.

Prosser has played really well this season and deserves to keep his place , but I think it should be at the expense of Barker.
So many Barnet moves came down his side in the second half and he was struggling.
Having said that , a great deal of it is down to the lack of midfield cover right now.
Having thought about the game yesterday , at times it was like attack versus defence , with each side taking it in turns.
Very little coming through the midfield................. because we haven't got one at the moment !
