I have done it before to Basildon and think you will struggle for kick-off.

No chance of going on the train for you?

thanx -

thats what I thought - its also impossible get out to the North Circular and A127 and never done it the A13 way - so it will be the train which for 3 or 4 of us which works out at shedloads of cash compared to chipping in for petrol - plus loads of QPR on the way back -

I'll be driving down from Lakeside at around 6ish, and that usually takes me around an hour with normal traffic (parking and walking time included). If you leave at that time I think you will be pushing it taking into account parking and walking time as well.

I don't live too far from Tower Bridge... leaving at 6pm would be cutting it quite fine, it takes me the best part of 2 hours to get back to Southend when the traffic's busy. The A13 is slow slow slow in the 30mph zone but once your clear of the Blackwall Tunnel turnoff it's alright (but watch out for the tons of speed cameras in the 40mph zone).

You might also want to join the A127 either via the M25 or at the Brentford turnoff to avoid Sadler's Farm roundabout.

Think you mean Brentwood ?? Dont know if it helps save any time but there is car parking in Southend High School for Boys which costs £ 5 and is in the road which heads towards the hospital from behind the North Bank , Prittlewell Chase. And also the quickest way is to use A 13 as far as the A 130 at Sadlers Farm ( the nutty roundabouts ) then head to Southend on the A 127 from there.

That area will be hammered at that time of night... You'll be 20 minutes getting to the Sadler's Farm Roundabout from the Pitsea Flyover, believe me!!! a better prospect would be to leave the A13 at the 5 Bells and head through to the A127 via Basildon Hospital and straight over the two roundabouts on the periphery of the town centre. That would get you to the A127 in under 10 minutes. ;)

Not sure about going straight down the a13 at that time, maybe be best to take the back road past city aiport by canary wharf and come back on the a13 by newham cinemas/barking near the start of the a406. Going over the canning town flyover in rush hour friday will not be pleasant.

Another issue is of course if this "massive amount of snow" that is due to hit us starting on Thursday really does happen. If it does, and the match isn't cancelled, then as is the way in the England, there will most likely be road chaos everywhere whilst there is even the smallest bit of the white stuff on the ground.

And the trains will be screwed.

So let's hope it doesn't snow!

I usually leave Ipswich at 5:30PM which has me on the A12 passing Sheeptown at about 5:45 and arriving at the ground at 6:30/6:45.

Traffic down the A12 is usually OK; not sure about how long it'll take to get out of town though.

Cheers, it does not take me long to get out of Colchester, as I do not have to go through town :)
