So whilst having a search around the groups on Facebook and looking at some of the groups my friends have joined, I stumbled across the 'Beadle Appreciation' group.
Now, 'Beadle' (I had no idea this was his name, perhaps it's not) is an interesting character often seen walking the streets of Westcliff.
He is usually wearing a shabby long coat, has a beard and a cricket style hat. He is easily recognisable and I am sure many of you have seen him about. I first had contact with him about 15 years ago when he started talking to me and my friend. We were only 13 at the time and he mumbled a load of stuff about the 'Queens Highway' and getting strapped to a chair???? We ran away. From that point on, I seemed to always see him about.
So after finding the Facebook group, watching a video on there and seeing some pictures, I have some questions to ask the shrimperzone community.
What's his story? Who is this guy? Is he called Mr. Beadle? How old is he? How long has he been about? Has he got a job/did he have a job? Is anyone his friend or is anyone related to him? Do you know who I am talking about?
As one of the most well known and likeable town eccentrics I'm just interested to know a little more!
