Text speak

Having just tried to read some of the posts on here today and seen replys from MTS and a few others. Why not give the people who are using text speak yellow cards then a ban to help them learn the english language and stop using text speak on here. I only got a GCSE D 14 years ago but my english was better than that. Then maybe we can all follow the posts quickly & easily without having to translate first.

Excellent suggestion and excellent decision gents. This mangling of the English language really hacks me off!

There's no need for text talk on these forums, especially when you're trying to get across an opinion, point of view, suggestion, etc. which can be misconstrued even when written in plain English, let alone in this diabolical text talk nonsense. Sure, abbreviate some of the structure (IIRC, BTW, etc.) but not the essence of the sentence. Please ...

I had wondered whether there was a crossover from the mobile-phone world of text speak. Personally, I have never tried to use Shrimperzone using a WAP phone... Is that possible, Mike? Anyone?

Just wondering, as it may account for the annoyance...

Even when I'm sending a text I still don't use text speak, I type the full sentence out in full using the correct spacing and punctuation.

Obviously that is going too far the other way and means it takes me ages to send a text but I can't help it.

Yes it is possible and one of the reasons East Stand Drummer Boy's posts are so diabolical as he seems to frequently use this method to access the site.

One this point are able to use Telex talk which has been around for years, even longer than most of us have been on this planet.

So is msg, txt, pls, rgds and fyi allowed?? Just asking as I do tend to use this in email and posts.
