You've forgotten Prosser and Tomlin.

Tomlin will surely start after his goalscoring exploits and Prosser will at the very least be on the bench. Personally I'd start him ahead of Phillips.

I think Farmdogs above might be the one though....

agree with farmdogs also:
but would like to say think its unfair the way woodyard has been dropped,
think he should at least be on the bench. he has been one of our better players of late,
and think its important that we continue to try and develop him(youth players).

Same back four - can't agree with Yorkshire Blue wanting Prosser in for Phillips.

I don't see Timlin as being a wide midfielder ...... but others clearly do.

I want to see Eastwood get some more time on the pitch ...... but think that Tomlin's "higher work rate" will get him in the starting XI.

I think our record is much better with Timlin out wide than inside.

I think we're a much better balanced team as well with him there.

Prosser has come a long way with us, he's our most improved over the last few years that for sure. I can see where you're coming from with this YB and Philips hasn't been at his best this season but I can't help thinking all the chopping and changing in defence is playing a part in our inconsistent form. I'd leave it as is for the time being.

It's great to have players like Prosser who you know will come in and do a very job in a number of positions should the manager want to change things though.

Timlin out wide gives us 3 central midfielders and a bit more stability than a namby pamby winger.

Not sure its an approach I like, but can see Sturrock doing it seeing as Port Vale are a strong side.

Well, according to some Port Vale have 2 good wingers ............ so do you put a central midfielder in front of your left and right back ........... or do you use another winger to track down their wingers? Home game or away game?

:unsure::unsure::unsure:

I'm wondering if, because of Vale's allegedly tricky wingers, he might go with something like this?

------------Smith--------------

Clohessy Cresswell Phillips Barker

Leonard Mkandawire Laire Timlin

------- Assombalonga Tomlin-------

Subs: Bentley, Straker, Prosser, Woodyard, Hurst, Eastwood, Corr,

I dont see why he would bring Leonard in, youre just inviting their wingers to attack then. Need to give their wingers some defensive work to do by attacking them. Same team for me as tuesday, middle of the park looks solid and Hurst can provide the creativity.

Oh! no, re above PS will play Tomlin not Fred.

Tomlin scored in his last match, seeing as the only criticism of him has been that he doesn't score enough it would be strange to drop him once he's started scoring.

Anyway, we've dropped Freddy for the last two games and won both. Freddy's last two starts have seen us only draw.

Just glad Sturrock now has some 'options' rather than 'whatever 11 he can cobble together' !

I think both Prosser and Woodyard will both count themselves as unlucky if they're not selected to start , but wouldn't it be nice to be able to pick an unchanged side for once.
Bench looks strong too for this level.
Benyon and Spicer can do some Christmas shopping together !
