Without knowing any of the insider gossip and titbits we do have a nucleus of a squad for next season. Hopefully all injuries and operations will be sorted ready for the early early Coca cola Cup start

With a few returnees my starting line up would be;

GK; Bentley
RB; Sean Clohessey
RCB; Mark Phillips
LCB; Cressie
LB; Barks (or Leonard)
Midfield; Timlin, Tam, Laird, Hurst
Strikers; BBBC, Timlin, (or Fred)

Obviously all need to be signed and Tam needs to be released and get a "free" from Millwall.

Bench with Smith, Straker, Prosser, Harris, Seedi and a n other.

Add into the mix a couple of middies that PB must have his sights on and for me, at the moment, the only REAL weak spots are the left side (centre/back/wing) of the squad, a grafter in midfield and some pace up front.

The nucleus is there - and that is good but we need more defenders and more in midfield in particular.

Yes, the team finished in 11th place and can therefore be thought to be poor - but I would be looking at the current manager and asking some questions ............. happy to give him some time but his record to date at the club is not anyone would want.

Every club has to contend with injuries, the fact is our squad wasn't/isn't good enough. We need several new players to come in and others to go during the summer to have a real go at promotion next season. I've no doubt Brown already has people lined up to come in. We won't have an idea of the starting eleven until late July/early August.

To early to even start thinking that at this stage although dependant on who comes it would be nice to see the following in the starting team;

Bentley
Clohessy
Cressy
